Oh boy, please. I took my daughter to see Pearl Jam at Wrigley Field...not Marilyn Manson! We had reserved seats, the people around us were cool as hell and at no point was her safety ever in jeopardy. Step out of your middle America way of thinking, lighten up and enjoy life once in a while...you might actually like it! :D
its you kid..you dont have to apologise to anyone..if you think is good parenting,no one has a say on it
there is no perfect model for parents and im pretty sure most of parents try their best for their kids
    glad you enjoy the show

unless you know everything the have going on in their lives, maybe you should just mind your own business. Maybe the wife is pregnant. Maybe one of them has a bad back and can't stand for 8 hours straight. maybe there was a death in the family, and instead of having a hotel to go back to, they now have to drive all tonight to attend the funeral the next morning

George: What was wrong with that? I had a different interpretation! Do you
know anything about this pretzel guy?! Maybe he's been in the bar a really long
time and he's really depressed because he has no job and no woman and he's
parking cars for a living! (out the window to honking cars) Alright! Alright!
Shut up! Shut up! I hear you! I'm coming down! These pretzels are making me thirsty!

Some fans are extremely judgmental.

Not to mention, drags a 6 year old to a show and brags that they made it til 1 am.

I'm not judging them, I'm more astounded by them actually. I'm astounded because what hardcore fan would spend all that money to travel to the show and then leave before anything official was announced?

And who dragged their 6 year old to a show? I know it wasn't me as the option to go was completely up to her and she wanted to go. Trust me, I would never drag her anywhere especially to a concert as I could of easily enjoyed going by myself if I had to.

And please remember it's also summer break for kids and we were on a mini vacation so her staying up till 1am one time over the vacation wasn't going to kill her. You gotta live a life a little ya know!? :corn:

I agree..don't see why you'd leave after waiting for over 2 hours. Surely people must've had their reasons, but I still think it's surprising, considering all the trouble for tickets, travel, etc.

Don't see anything wrong with staying up one time either...it's summer and they're on vacation, no big deal.

anybody that caught a metra train down had to leave or face a massive taxi bill. last metra trains are around 12:40-1am ish.

the city has taxis after 1am??

    i'd like to disagree

although walking north halstead after the show from wrigley down to the train station by the vic was an experience i definitely will never forget

I had to hoof it a few blocks after the show and didn't end up catching a cab until almost 3am myself!!! But let me tell you this, compared to Outside Lands Festival 2009 where I had to walk 33 city blocks back to my car due to the lack of transportation made Wrigley seem like a walk in the park!

BTW, thanks to the couple who graciously allowed me to hitch a ride in cab with them back to downtown that morning!

My roommate and I had to drive back to Iowa to make a 9am work meeting and my sister collapsed right after Crown of Thorns and was rushed to the "medical lounge". I use that term so loosely because the "medics" at Wrigley are downright pathetic. After almost being arrested due to their complete lack of administering any medical attention or treatment for severe heat stroke, I still was able to make it back for most of Black & Rockin' in the Free World.
I would have never left for anything but with the near unbearable heat I can completely understand. Also the almost 3 hours the crowd was given to get completely shit faced was near unbearable. Like I said, I wouldn't leave, but I can almost understand.
I would also like to give an enormous "Thank You!" to the man that not only caught my sister from hitting the ground when she collapsed, but also literally running down the stairs to get a medic. I can never thank you enough and I wish you hadn't left towards the end of RITFW so I could have personally thanked you. I didn't want to disturb you from enjoying the end of the show and when it ended you took off for the exit. Thank you so much.
As for 90% of the Wrigley concession and medical staff, sincerely FUCK YOU! (May be harsh, but if you experienced what I experienced you'd completely understand)

Pearl Jam fan belittles other fan for leaving a show during two hour rain delay when MANY people believed not another song would be played.

But before doing so he claims he brought a 6 year old to a rock and roll concert, in horrible hot humid weather, with a risk of severe storms... and kept him there to 1 a.m. in the morning.

Yes, some fans are just unbelievable.

Incorrect, I kept HER there till 1am. And obviously you didn't go to Wrigley because it wasn't as bad as you make it out to be. It's the summer for christ sakes people, it's going to get hot and humid. Never once was there any danger and if there was we would have never of brought her.

Read my post above yours, I'm not judging you, but there was definitely danger that night.

I really thought as the show was going on "no one will bitch about this - they stuck out the delay and played so many rare songs" - but the thought that no one would bitch just shows how intoxicating a live PJ show is for me. I wasn't thinking logical thoughts.

Yep. If Pearl Jam showed up, INVITED, to play a backyard BBQ, some would complain about their grass getting killed.

I don't know what kind of fans they are, but I don't think this is a fandom issue, but a broader one. For example, I hate hot weather, sometimes I can't stand it, but I don't bitch about the weather, as many do whether it is hot or cold. What I mean is that weather won't ruin my plans, any plan, no matter how hot it is, or if it's pouring down. So those who couldn't stand the wait because they were wet, come on, did it rained that hard? isn't it summer over there? I bet this is the kind of people who don't go to the movies or decline an invitation or fail to attend a party because of the weather. What a bunch of douchebags, who takes such a decision without hearing the official announcement?

Never once did I mean to question their fandom, it was probably a wrong choice of words. What I really meant was I was more surprised by the fact that these people traveled all the way to Chicago (one from Toronto and the other from CA) and spent a ton of money to go to this show and ended up walking out without anything being communicated one way or the other regarding whether the show would continue or not. I merely wondered who would leave until there was an official announcement made. And I'm still wondering...

It rained but it wasn't a down pour or anything crazy like that and with it being so hot, the rain actually brought some relief. And by the time the band started back up again my clothes were fully dry and I was breaking a sweat all over again!

I was actually wondering myself if the field takes any damage during a concert at a baseball stadium. Not to complain about, just for general knowledge.

I don't know of any standards that tell us if we are good fans or not so good fans. Everyone gets what they get from a band... no one is more of a fan than another.
That whole, 'Hardcore Fan' is what? What is the criteria? What are the standards?
I want to know... so I can know what i am.

They had a protective covering over the area where people were--large metal decking, interlocked to cover the seating and walking areas. I'm sure there's some cleanup to be done after, from the weight of all the flooring and people on the grass, but it keeps the field surface from getting worn down, bare, and/or muddy from foot traffic, the feet of the chairs, and litter.

Red Mosquito, I'd like you to sit down and take a deep breath because what I'm about to say is going to shock you. You will be outraged. You will probably get mad and call me bad names. You'll say I'm crazy and curse me to hell. You might try to get me banned. But I assure you, I'm here to help and ease your worries. So, are you ready? Here goes.............

NOT EVERYONE IS AS BIG A FAN OF PEARL JAM AS YOU ARE.
I don't like it, you don't like it, but its just a reality we must face. And its ok.

Honestly, who cares? So people left early. What I find crazier is the person who saw them thirty times before. Seriously? Are you going for a participation ribbon?
