Pearl Jam announced today a new free app that will feature music, news, Ten Club membership, specialty merch, activism updates, and mobile connectivity to the band’s social media networks.
The app also includes a unique detailed career-spanning timeline marking the band’s major historical milestones and access to Ten Club Radio as well as a digital bonus pack for mobile devices. The Pearl Jam app is available now in the App Store at iTunes.com/pearljam.
“This is a big and active year for the band in terms of album and touring. We wanted to bring all the best features on pearljam.com and the band’s Ten Club to fans via their mobile devices so they weren’t bound to their computers to reap all the benefits,” said Ten Club manager, Tim Bierman. “The app was created to serve all Pearl Jam fans, but it also allows our official Ten Club members to log into their membership accounts on-the-go,” says Bierman.
So they really think all Pearl Jam fans have iPhones or iPads... Well, that explains some things
Really really confusing tabs..
Easy to hit wrong buttons
You can't access forum?
If you touch anything in the "bonus" section (which is right next to the radio tab) the entire app crashes...
My 16 year old could design a better app (really)
Who's getting these assignments? Someone's cousins friend down the street?
Gee whiz!

Ha ha ha! Yeah, on this until they fix this up a bit and give access to the forum. It has potential if they could put a little fix'n on it.

Even if they came out with an Android app, my guess is that you would have to be running the latest version of the Android OS in order to use the app ... I 'm willing to guess that far more iPhone/iPad users running ios 6 allowing them to use the app than people using the latest version of Android, so people would still be complaining.
I'm not sure how the Android updates, do you have to go through your carrier for updates?
I do think there will be an Android app eventually, but you'll probably need the latest Android OS.

Would be cool if you made the app for the largest app market.....you know...android.
Actually, that's not exactly true.
In the U.S., for example, Strategy Analytics says that when you remove the ol' flip phones from the equation Apple’s iPhone shipments continue to outpace other smartphone manufacturers. Apple alone controls 39 percent of the mobile market now.
App developers continue to develop first for iPhone because of Android's fragmentation (you develop for one product with 94 percent of users on the latest version of the OS vs. Android's hundreds of different models, many of which can't run the app). App developers want their apps to work and look as good as possible, which is why they take longer to to come to Android versus the integrated ecosystem of the iPhone.
Meanwhile, NetMarketShare publishes monthly stats on which browsers and operating systems are being used on the Net. Its report for June 2013 says that among mobile devices, iOS rules with 63.1 percent share. Android is way behind at 22.9 percent. Given that there are more Android devices out there, the data suggests that iOS users are disproportionately active online. Another reason app developers go with iPhone versions first.
A Citrix report covering the fourth quarter of 2012 shows iOS as trouncing Android and everything else in the business arena and creative arts industries.
If you're talking market share and including the crap phones with the shining stars such as the Galaxy S4, Android is winning. But it's iOS if you mean financial success. So far, this is a strikingly different market than the PC business back in the 1990s, when market share translated directly into financial success.

Here's how the fragmentation, the biggest obstacle for Android developers, looks now.

Ten Club Radio streaming radio doesn't work with lock screen on! Fix that and I'll be hooked!!
yes!! of all the features having Ten Club Radio on this app is the best. If they can fix the app so that the music continues to play when the iphone is locked (and also when the app is in the background) it would be awesome.
Being able to stream ten club radio on your phone adds great value to the 10c membership and could encourage more to join.
