Where did they stop selling beer? I was so hungover most of the day I wasn't drinking for the show (I had quite a few $1 waters), but people around me in the floor were grabbing beers at 1:30. My buddy grabbed a rum and coke during the delay.

Anyway, final thoughts....a weird day, but well worth all the cash it took to get here.

Greatest fucking band in the world!!!

And their fans aren't too shabby either. (Fucking Hyatt crew that kept me drinking till 3 am Friday morning, you know who you are

I think during the delay, they shut down beer sales. Can't blame them. If the show did get cancelled, you didn't need a bunch of drunk disgruntled fans.

Makes sense, but rum and cokes were flowing.

Either way, you can't bitch at the seller. It's not their (the individual) call to stop sales.

GA is GA. Just because you were at the rail when the show started doesn't give you the "right" to stand at the rail after the rain delay. If it was a regular show and you stayed in your spot, held your spot (didn't get pushed or squeezed out of the way), didn't leave for food, water or bathroom? you get the rail all night long. Once you leave that place, it's no longer "yours". Thats what GA means. If your half way back on the floor and go to the bathroom do you expect to be standing in the exact same place? Doesn't matter how long you waited in line to get in. It's like Disney World, you want the best place for the parade? your ass better be there, and stay there. Or you lose.

If you wanted to be back at the rail, then you needed to be just as diligent getting there at the restart of the show.
I wasn't there, I'm a huge PJ fan that doesn't wait in line to be front row, not because I don't want to be there, but because it's too hard to hold it. The people that want to be there have to realize the time and effort and be respectful of the people around you. If people got to the front after the rain delay AND they had their wristbands? I say it was fair game.

Seems like the crowd was tough, people were crabby from the heat and the delay. Too bad because it seemed the band did their best to keep things going and to make the fans happy. Most issues I'm reading are from GA and being at the rail and drunk people. Sounds about normal to me.
Thank you fellow 10 clubber for saving my ass....again!!!

Well you kind of are passing judgement IMO. You don't know the details of their plans. 1) Pregnancy is not a sickness, and pregnant women are not invalids, or incapable and 2) maybe they had contingency plans such that if she wasn't feeling well, they'd hang back, or leave. Just because you are pregnant doesn't mean you can't do most of the things you normally do. The human body is set up to protect the fetus well.

I saw at least 6-8 pregnant (at least 5-6 months along) women at the London show.

Does anybody remember when Eddie said they'll play Wrigley every summer until the Cubs go All the Way. He said something like that'll be at least three years. All in all I had an adventurous day with a new friend and hope the memories last a lifetime. I did a "rain delay" upgrade but I didn't disrespect anyone in the process. The people up front in G.A. should just be happy they spent some time on the rail and you're lucky they didn't play Leash. It could've got ugly real quick. What I'm saying is think about when you were young, partying at a rock concert, not everybody has the Grateful Dead mentality. If you can't take the heat, literally and metaphorically, get out of the kitchen. Maybe it's time to step aside and let the kids have their fun. As far as saying "we put in the time and effort so we should get our spot" you need to think about the higher seniority members that didn't get a ticket. It really should have been seniority first, lottery second for a very special and long awaited show such as this.

It was a day of highs and lows for me and my wife.

Drove up in the morning from Windsor, Ontario and had to battle with the hotel which screwed up our reservations.

An hour later got that sorted out. Took the blue line and redline to Wrigley and went smoothly.

The merchandise booths were fucking crazy, managed to get a T and some stickers inside Wrigley after a 2 hour wait and everyone in line were sweating so much they looked like they took a shower.

Too bad water is fucking expensive ... 4.25 inside really!!, sometimes someone needs to let go of a little greed and think of the 50000 or so people in the venue ... but it is what it is.

The concert itself was just fucking awesome and was even better after the rain delay ... seemed to cool things down a bit.

    Highlights
    -opening with Release
    -Chloe Dancer/Crown Of Thorn
    -Mr. Cub himself
-Pearl Jam playing 45 minutes then a rain delay and returning to the stage at 11:45 and rocking till 2am ... I doubt there is another band on the planet that would have returned to the stage after a near 3 hour delay
We who were there Friday night were truly lucky and witnessed a very special night.

It was rough. Long day, compromised set, very crowded in the hallways during the delay, took forever to get back downtown. I am still recovering.

    BUT

What a great fucking time. Thanks to the band for coming back when they easily could have pulled the plug.
Wrigleyville is one of the best places in the U.S. to drink. The atmosphere around the building before the show was so electric. Yeah the rain delay sucked big time and I could barely stand during Black. But so glad I made the trip.

The moment sthat stood out. Funny enough, Bugs. Amid all the people, the fan fare, the hype, the rocking eruption that McCready ripped, there is Ed on stage with an accordion SINGING bugs all by himself. You just knew that was for the die hard fans. Just perfect. All the way was terrific to hear in that venue, and very appropriate. Overall it was a good show. Not the best of all time, but I had a great trip with my friends.

I brought a rain poncho and just sat there, waiting for the rain to end.

At this point, I don't even think about those 2 hours, because I got so much more in return.

The only people I felt bad for, were the two sweet old ladies who were assisting with the tickets and the seating. I am not sure if this was also security, but it was 2 in the morning and you could just see it in their faces that they just wanted to go home and rest their feet. :(

Now...the guy who fell asleep and missed the show..yeah, I don't feel bad for you. :nono: :fp:

There were also water fountains and taps in the washrooms. Not clear on why so many people acted as though it was a building without plumbing! :fp:

Some of those GA PJ crazies are out of control though. I went to the Phish concert last night, and everyone was completely cool about it. People were coming and going, no one had any trouble at all moving up. We walked in 3 songs into the show, and the entrance to GA was next to the stage. We just wandered in and were maybe 40 feet from the stage, and came and went as we pleased. No one minded if you walked through the crowd. Everyone was jus having a fun time and weren't acting like obsessed crazy people, even though it was clear that there were many many super fans there. I wish the PJ GA freaks could be like that... You know, just chill out.Anyway, since some feel incapable of that, i think PJ shpuld adopt the method that Springsteen uses for GA. A lottery system for order of entry to the pit. That means no more line up, and nomore claims of having worked harder for the rail. Since some fans are clearly incapable of acting like civilized people on their own, they need a hand doing so.

Our Wrigley experience was different in that our section was never evacuated and because of the direction of the wind only a very little rain fell on us. So while the delay was looong it was not particularly uncomfortable and even fun for at least some of the time.

Someone used the term "bittersweet" to describe the Wrigley show and I think that is a perfect description. We had a great time, and the concert they did play was fantastic. Coming on late was strange knowing that weather was due. I loved what we got but the setlist they had planned would have been a top 3 or 5 alltime PJ show. Knowing that we missed out on that is disappointing.

All in all though I had a wonderful time in Chicago and would love to go back if they play Wrigley again.

All in all, I had a great time, did not have a weekend with that much fun in a long time.

I took a good friend of mine who has been going through some personal difficulties in his life (divorce with ex wife and other events) and had not seen the band since 2000. We helped out a man down on his luck earlier in the day by helping purchase a meal for him and hoping that he lands the job that he is trying to get (chef position at a newer hotel in downtown Chicago). My friend and I both arrive at Wrigley at 230 PM and take in everything. It was a great sight, I had not seen that many PJ fans at one place since PJ20 in 2011 at Alpine Valley. The line to get the 10C tickets was not too long with only a few people in line at the time, so it was fair. I get my tickets and find out I am seated in section 114, first row. The seats were good, and in the stadium, so no complaints. I was wearing the red karate bear PJ shirt and buddy wore my ratbox shirt (both from the short 2012 US tour)

My buddy and I go grab some beers and food before the concert. The Full Shilling was great and I had a good time meeting and talking fellow fans there. We meet up with some friends from back home (Central Illinois) and share some beer together. After that, we go to the merchandise line and grab four shirts, two for each of us. After purchasing some shirts, we enter Wrigley and proceed to the seats and then have some pictures taken with the other friends from Full Shilling.

People understand, three things can not be defeated; father time, mother nature, and the laws of physics. It was approaching 730 and my friend gets nervous, I tell him that there is bad weather coming through and the band will not take a chance with other people's lives since this is a fun thing and the amount of times PJ has been through bad experiences with what happens to fans (Roskilde Festival) and what happened in Indiana in either 2011 or 2012. The band comes on after 8PM and the show starts. Now nature kicks in and not to expect rain at an outdoor show is foolish thinking. I did not expect a delay that long, but I understood it.

The people I talked to all had good attitudes about it and then the band comes back on at 12 AM, I understand that the show can not go as long as expected. The new song Forever Days was great, I am impressed.

The only thing I wished that could have been different was PJ playing the rest of the eight songs they intended to play, but such is life. Thank you PJ fans, 10C, PJ, and the city of Chicago for a great time, I will never forget it, neither will my friend who was with me that day/night/next day.

Only one difference, London was indoors and a short commitment. 10 hours in 90 degree heat is irresponsible. Passing judgement...... maybe...... it was just a stupid decision. It sounds like she has been to a few shows in her day so she could have passed on this one and waited until that beautiful child she is caring for is born.

    My final thoughts...

-The show was awesome, could have been one of the best ever without the storm.
-If they had started at 7:30 as advertised, they could have played everything that they planned.
-They took their sweet old time restarting the show. They problaby wasted a half hour.
-For all those trapped underneath the seats during the rain delay, it was made even worse by people who felt the need to smoke. There were no smoking signs everwhere.
-Met and talked to lots of 10C members... EVERYONE I met hated the lottery. I didn't meet one person who had good things to say about it.

    1) Wrigley absolutely did the right thing in getting people off the floor. Nobody should risk their lives for. Concert.

    2) $5 for water.... Really......?????

    3) the Wrigley Staff did their best to accommodate us in GA especially with the anger they were dealing with. I was Miles side right in front of him. Came back in the same spot. This is where I stop being nice.

4). There were people who has the rail, who after the storm felt they had a absolute right to be back where they were. Is this the mentality that PJ promotes? SMFH

    5) one Fan (?), was able to get his son on the rail. Cool, but on the second stampede, he risked his sons life to get back there. Absolutely horrible parenting. I saw one girl get knocked over... Explained your trampled son to your wife because it was Pearl Jam

    6) After we get back to the rail the second time, another chick, the one who fell, get back to the rail, and asks this girl if she was the rail before the storm? She tells her no, she pushes her out of the way and tells her she worked to get there and this was her spot!!! WOW!!!!!

7)) I could go on buy this one is close to the worst I have ever seen. (Except maybe a pregnant chick I saw drinking heavily at a show I saw last month). There was this pregnant girl who was on the rail pre-storm. It's her body but why would you put your unborn child at risk for a Pearl Jam Show? The extreme heat, lack of nutrition and H2O could not be good for the baby. That said, that would be enough to question that couples sanity but post storm, she to felt a need to get right back up front. She seemed decent, but not too bright.

So much for my rant.... There are some stupid, fucked up people in the world. I saw a lot of this at Dead Shows, last night was an epic night of music. A social commentary on people's priorities, an epic failure. Thanks for listening.

Sorry but the worst I saw was the young woman in what I presume was section 116 (give or take, I was in 216 and she was down below us) that had a little baby (probably under six months old) in a baby carrier hanging off the front of her.... Seriously what the f*&^ is wrong with people, if you want to go see PJ you should but don;t bring your effing baby and subject them to what all goes on a t a concert, that is pathetic parenting, get a babysitter and go enjoy yourself but leave the kid at home with someone, and if you don't have a sitter then the kid needs to be more important than seeing PJ, and if it's not then your priorities are beyond messed up.... I love the idea of taking your 10+ year old kid to a concert and getting them into the music etc.... but a freaking new born baby, that just isn'st cool in my book.... and she stayed through the whole rain delay too just for the record....

I bought a water from a guy right on the corner outside of Wrigley, he hada cooler full of them (and saw a bunch of other guys all around the staium with the same setup) and they were going for $2 a bottle.... I bought several before going inside.... once inside the stadium bottles of water were $4.50 ...

  • I thought the show was an abortion of what could have been a wonderful night.

first 7 songs were fucking awesome and the momentum and mood was there...

the rain ruined everything, beer buzzes, beer sales, mood, attitude.

happy they finished as there was no way they were giving all that $$$$ back they made.

The show was vanilla and dull after the rain delay, we left as the mood was ruined.

I know it's nobody's fault, lets not be dumbasses and act like they actually played from 8-2am like many are giving them credit for. They came back to fulfill contractual obligations and avoid lawsuits and refunds.

I hope they never play an outdoor stadium without a retractable roof again...

My weekend was wasted and thats my feeling - my first 7 songs were epic, total shit after that.
