Final Wrigley Thoughts

This was my 18th show. Not the BEST show I've seen (that would be Amsterdam in 2012), but certainly not the worst, and definitely unique & special. Saw the show from all over the Park. Started at my tickets.com (I went 0-4 on the Lottery) seats at Row 3 of DD on the floor. Sound was awesome, but my less than 5' wife couldn't see shit. Release, Nothingman, and Present Tense to start had me thinking it would be the greatest of all time. Come Back was emotional because I knew the story from the boards, and Elderly Woman is in my top 5. The break couldn't have come at a worse time. The momentum & the crowd was really getting going. The worst part was it took over an hour, AFTER the stoppage for the storm to actually hit. They knew weather was coming, should have gone on right at 7:30, and played a couple more tunes before the stoppage. Never saw the field again. Hit the 400 level to meet up with friends. There were plenty of available seats. Spent the entire delay up there away from the HUGE crowds underneath. The 3 hour rain delay was horrendous. Food lines were long, beer lines were long, & bathroom lines were long. I was AMAZED they served beer SO LONG. They didn't shut the beer down until AFTER 11pm. People were REALLY fucked up. We decided to stay up in the 400's for the start of the 2nd half because it looked like a madhouse down there and at least in the 400's the views were much better for my wife. Sound just wasn't the same up there though, and I regret missing Corduroy, Why Go, and Rearview from down low. Took a piss break at the encore and moved to the 100's level near home plate where there again were tons of empty seats and watched the rest of the show there & concluded that those seats were the best VIEW we had all night, but the crowd there seemed a little underwhelmed (of course it WAS after 1AM). Overall, though I had a great time, I feel like this show was shaping up to be the most incredible show ever, and the weather really ruined a lot of that. Thankful for what I got, but at the same time feel like missed out on some shit too. I think the setlist would have had at least 5 or 6 more songs on it, maybe even more. It was great to be a part of rarities like Bugs and Chloe Dancer (which I've actually seen twice now), as well as first time EVER like Lightning Bolt and Future Days. Overall, great show that was somewhat dampened by the circumstances. Could have been WAY worse though. The Phish show just a few miles away got to play just 11 songs. Entire place was cleared after the 2nd song of the 2nd set. That would have completely sucked. Phish more than made up for it the next night though, when they played 3 sets and 29 songs from 7:15-11:30 which I was lucky enough to witness.

    My final thoughts...

-The show was awesome, could have been one of the best ever without the storm.
-If they had started at 7:30 as advertised, they could have played everything that they planned.
-They took their sweet old time restarting the show. They problaby wasted a half hour.
-For all those trapped underneath the seats during the rain delay, it was made even worse by people who felt the need to smoke. There were no smoking signs everwhere.
-Met and talked to lots of 10C members... EVERYONE I met hated the lottery. I didn't meet one person who had good things to say about it.

    Agree 100%
