Ticket Trading Question

For those of you looking to trade ticket pairs, not singles, how do you ensure you'll get your tickets if you're getting the night 2 tickets?

For example, say Jane has tickets to LA1 and Tom has tickets to LA2.
They agree to trade one pair for the other.
The two meet at the venue and Jane gives her LA1 tickets to Tom.
What's to keep Tom from flaking out night 2?

Is there some trading etiquette or common practice I am unaware of?
Does everyone just take each others word?

Obviously it would be a pretty low-life thing to do but seems like it could happen easy enough.

And has anyone ever had trouble like this before?

Thanks for the input...

The only sensible option would be for the person receiving the first gig ticket to pay a full price deposit and have it returned in exchange for the second gig ticket. That way the worst is you end up financially ok but short of seeing the gig.

I am in the similar position having a Philadelphia 1 GA looking for same to either New York shows.

    good luck man

Thats a good idea. I just always try to do trades with members who are around here often. Like myself, we do not want to ruin our reputation. You should also read the person's past posts to see what their deal is- i.e. did they ever flake out on a deal, do they seem strange , are they rude....

    Good luck!

    Good luck!

    Thanks! Both responses make sense.
I never thought of reading past posts. Although, I imagine the rude can have integrity and the nice can lack it. :)

It is reassuring, however, that no one has responded with a story about someone flaking out. :)

i've made lots of deals with some real assholes here  tough to judge someone by what they post... i've said some things that some may deem questionable, but every trader i've dealt with can vouch for my word. i know the A+ thread means nothing now after how all that panned out, but i'm bold red.

that said, i agree with macatae. someone in that position should receive some substantive collateral in lieu of the highly (un)likely(?) opportunity for someone (10c member with that asshole streak??) to flake out on the trade. i wouldn't have imagined that "fans" would buy multiple memberships for the sole purpose of heightening their lottery chances either though, so who knows...

tread lightly samsonite, and good luck! ;)
