gotta be honest, i'm sick of FA's.

slow down....build thru the draft....and build a sustainable minor league system. this sign fa/trade players every summer just isn't working.

how many players have they drafted, brought up...and flipped for younger prospects over the last 10 years?

might be time to trade homer and bring back bobby.....and i hated bobby as the gm.

I understand this point of view but lets face it, what is the last goalie to be drafted that is amazing. goalies need time to grow and I would rather get a young goalie in the NHL that can grow with the team.

    Thats why i wanted bernier

why are they going to trade defense? that is the major hole beside goalie that this team needs.

going back to the 81/82 season, a vast majority of the Vezina winners won it with the team that drafted and devleloped them.

Hasek is the biggest exception, but to be fair, Chicago had Eddie the Eagle who was pretty good and won the Vezina with the hawks.

They need to move Coburn and Mez to create more cap. Coburn hasn't been what they hoped for. He's been better then avg but he hasn't been what they thought. This draft is so deep that you HAVE to try and take full advantage of it.

I'll match the $100. Although he's probably drooling over KS and his titles at the moment.

with all this talk about the defense we should also remind ourselves that last year only 2 dman were healthy and the rest was a patchwork. I think we also have to keep in mind that the flyers have to play more defense as a team and we can't just rely on our dman.

I know. I was being facetious. Flyers weakness is dmen...let's trade them all away. Great strategy

The cap went down by 6mill. We have to resign G,Scheen and Couts soon. Coburn hasn't been that good and Mez is ALWAYS hurt. They make around 8.5 against the cap this year. Build thru the strongest draft in 15yrs or so and see what a young nucleus does for once. What's funny is that you think the Phiilies should sell off and let the youth play, yet you thinks its wrong to do here.

I have said numerous times that I wanted/am glad that the flyers kept their young nucleus together. Reading is fun.

Coburn is only 28. Trading him after a down year is a terrific idea  ...especially since they have loads of options to replace him with

while i think we all agree that the flyers should trade Mez, i disagree with Cobourn. he is a better than ave D-man who had a really bad year but plays top minutes on the team. I would not trade him for a draft pick to get a dman. for me i would look at a matt read, since we have players like him already and he is an RFA

totally agree. Guys like Read are a dime a dozen. I'd include him in any deal, but I don't think they will get anything substantial for him
