Last straw for me. I'm out. Membership cancelled. This "band" has lost the plot. They care more about selling crappy merch and playing occasional greatest hits setlists for festivals and cash-grab corporate events than they do about being artists. Sad thing is that they don't need the money like some up-and-coming musicians do. The more money they've made, they more they've sacrificed their ideals. It's a weird reversal. Dog collars? Seriously? Shameful and embarrassing. Selling out is one thing, this simply shows contempt for the fans. And it's hardly the first example, just one more in a long line of business practices that demonstrate that not only does the band not care about it's audience, they actively despise it. Enjoy the huge piles of cash, guys -- you won't be getting another cent from me.

Ok. I have reached my "last straw." Really? Complaining about $40 dog collars? If the merch pisses u off, don't buy it. If it pisses you off enough to say "screw it" to the band, you were never in it for the music anyway. So much awful shit going on in the world, and some just can't get their mind past $40 dog collars. Un-fucking-believable. Grow up!

There. Sorry if that brings this thing to a lock. I love the merch. Keep it coming! And if its something I don't like, I don't buy it and move on.

So much negativity in here about every little thing this band does. It's sickening. Good riddance and hope ur number was lower than mine. Sorry Kat for the impending lock over dog collars. DOG COLLARS!

    :clap::clap:
Shocking, really, at the amount of peeps here that apparently have no clue that the guys are HUGE dog people...to compare it to "jumping the shark" is just, well, silly. Really, you think this is a last ditch effort by the band to retain fans and stay relevant???

People are confused about product and I'm sincerely confused about the backlash here :fp:

Thanks for the dog collars, 10C!

I agree with the people tweaking about this... this is the stupidest piece of "merch" ever put up for sale by any band, anywhere, ever. I mean, seriously, do you think the band thinks these are cool? lol. I'm ashamed. I'll be at Wrigley: with a bag over my head that says "'Da Jam".

As someone else already pointed out, Wilco beat them to the punch.

So, which piece of merch is more "stupid"?

You missed the point. It's not the dog collars, the dog collars are just one more example (and a pretty woeful one) at how far this band has fallen. They're KISS with better songs; they're ICP. It's not the merch, it's the ideology behind this type of stuff: We can sell any piece of crap to our fans and they'll still buy it. This ideology is one of pure contempt.

As for losing my precious Ten Club number, my row ZZZZ fan club tickets (assuming I can actually purchase tickets via the fan club) are all yours, homie.

Hint: I've generally been able to score outstanding setas via Ticketbastard the day of the show. Anyone who joined the the fan club in the last decade for tickets is being taken for a ride, especially with the new lottery system. You're better off going through Ticketbastard or waiting out the secondary market. I've sold fan club seats outside the shows for $10 and there were plenty of people doing the same. The "demand" for tickets is a total hoax.

REALLY trying to not be a dick here, but, wow. Just wow.

So, they "jumped the shark" in the late 90's when Ed was penning Soon Forget and really starting to play around with the Uke. Right on man, right on.

This thread is hilariously sad. Is that even a thing?

Which is more stupid? Well, they're both stupid, but since the PJ one costs more, I'll say it's stupider. :)

The thing about shit like this that bothers me is that somebody had to design, discuss, and approve something like this, when they could have spent that time designing, discussing, and approving something that could be useful and embraced by many more fans, like, say (and this is just an example because someone will say that it's less important than dog collars for forty bucks), the annual gift. Someone probably said, "just give them the same stuff they paid for last year... Now show me the dog collar designs again, I'm really gonna try to narrow it down to just the best FIVE this time..."

This still doesn't beat the Verizon snow job of 08... That was truly embarrassing on a much larger scale... Most people won't ever know that the band sold $40 dog collars to the fans who will buy anything. I say try to keep it that way.

So when IS that Viagra commercial coming out with the dancing cock singing "I'm still alive..."

(Where are people adopting dogs that only cost $40-50?! Yikes.)

I'm not a fan of the leather component myself - hopefully the material's been sourced from a ranch where the animals are treated decently before slaughter. There's no indication one way or the other, unfortunately. Of course, that would result in a price increase that most will balk at. I've mentioned in threads past that I thought fans would be willing to pay for items that are from fair-trade/fair-wage sources, but that clearly doesn't seem to be the case. I reluctantly stand corrected.

These collars may not have the safety features us Dog People™ are keen on (granted, my old dog had a buckle collar his whole life and it was never an issue) ... I'd put one on next to the "utilitarian" collar. :)
