States are starting to roll out details about the exchanges, providing a look at just how affordable coverage under the Affordable Care Act will be. Some potential participants may be surprised at the figures: $2,000 deductibles, $45 primary care visit co-pays, and $250 emergency room tabs.

why are states reporting that obamacare is going to work better than first thought?"You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

I think that once Obamacare becomes fully entrenched and enacted it will become popular. Further, I think 10-15 years from now Republicans will regret their decision to name it after a Democratic President. Imagine if to slander the Civil Rights Act they had referred to it as Johnson Freedom. I imagine they would have come to regret that.___________________________________________

obamasurance sounds less disparaging than obamacare.know1 wrote:I hate the term Obamacare. It really should be Obamasurance.
remember, they did the same thing with hillarycare to disparage hillary.

I've seen this around the forum before, though not sure if from you (or if intended with sincerity or sarcasm) - assuming the former, really and why? Qualifications?law21 wrote:i say Michelle O 2016.......Continue Forward.......
As to the issue itself, the deductible shown is way higher than I currently pay. The ER fee shown is way lower than we've EVER paid. Co-pay shown is a bit higher.
BinFrog, I'm cool with contributing some to make up for those who can't afford it...but what happens when said contributions fuck with my ability to pay for our own care, and now I need help?0 -

This is absolutely true. Same folks called it Romneycare when they hated him for doing it...I would wear it as a badge of honor if I were the president, and i would quit calling it Obamacare if I were the republicans and start talking about the actual merits of the bill and what they want defunded....I am fairly confident most people in congress who are for or against it vehemently still don't know what is in it and how it will help and how it may hurt.that’s right! it was such a shame for romney that he was made to run away from and run for president against his legislative legacy. people that i know/knew from mass. said it was the best thing he ever did.mikepegg44 wrote:This is absolutely true. I wish they would have put what it was after you reach your deductible, 80/20?. 2000 is a pretty high deductible, but if you don't get sick you won't have to reach it. for $300 a month I think that is pretty reasonable though.
To put it in perspective GF, through my employer right now I have great insurance. My out of pocket is minuscule, my deductible is basically none existent and my premium per month is somewhere near 700. My co-pay is 30 and my ER/outpatient surgery is 100...Most of the actual premium is paid by my employer, all of it was up until a few years ago. $4000 max out of pocket is a pretty solid deal i think. But it all depends on how much you go to the doctor. If you don't go often at all it costs you nothing but the premium, but if you go all the time or are on a recurring care plan 4000 max out of pocket might sound pretty god damn solid. Am i missing something with that? anyone?
I am against this bill in principle mainly because it won't do much to curb rising costs for care and might make it worse, but I don't think one can deny it will do a lot of good for a lot of people. I think they should have bullied through a universal system because at this point doing anything else would be, and is going to be like herding cats. It is the only thing that would have brought costs down, or at least keep them on a lower growth pace.that’s right! Why you're against it is one of the reasons I'm for it. It's a step towards a single payer system. Costs will still rise, but now with everyone seeing that they're paying into it, it will create a push to move towards a Canadian/Western European model.0
