Space is a scary place. It lacks "air", it's freezing cold, there is no gravity, and it's the opposite of anything we experience on Earth. I can imagine (I've had nightmares), having a failure during a mission, looking at the Earth from many thousands of miles away and accepting I'll never get to come back. This kid has some courage.

I used to have this recurring dream as a kid that I had fallen off the earth and was falling through space toward the moon. That's as close as I want to get!
