Meeting the band.

  • I met Ed, Matt, and Jeff in 03 in Birmingham, Michigan the day of the 2nd Detroit show. They were just walking around this little suburb of Detroit like normal folks...no sunglasses or funny hats. All 3 were very nice and signed cd's for me. Matt, probably the nicest, chatted it up w/ me about the weather for about 5 mins and Ed apologized for the 10C seats the previous night due to all of the season ticket holders at the venue. June 26, 03.......a day I'll never forget.
I wish I were the verb "to trust" and never let you down

I met Jeff the day after the Albany show in a nearby city. My husband spotted him, but wasn't sure if it was him. I told him to at least tell the guy he looks like him, because who wouldn't appreciate that? Next thing I know I'm introduced to him, and he's the nicest, most grounded person. We were both very impressed. Got an autograph, talked about the show and other things. Then he went on his way. Forever etched on my mind. :)

ow I would so like to meet someone from the band. But I guess it's imposible living in Europe and all...
The worst enemies of music? Money and Mathematics. Combined with music, they both do the exact opposite of what they're supposed to do. Money makes music cheap, mathematics makes it stupid and predictable.

I met Stone after the Brad Adelaide gig in early 2003 when he came out and signed a bunch a stuff for the fans. He signed my ticket stub so that was cool he was very quiet as I thought he would be. This was about a month before Pearl Jam came to Australia for the Riot Act tour in 2003. It got better though.

I got to the E-Centre extremly early on the day of the Adelaide show because I had this idea to meet someone from the band or even related to the band haha... After the 2 band vans went through the gate shortly after Ed came out and chatted and signed stuff with a few diehard fans who at this point were so excited their heads could have exploded (incuding mine). I requested Nothingman this wasn't played but who cares he signed my Riot Act booklet and I got front row for the show! Ed handed me his tambourine after RITFW and that topped it off! What a great day that was. Only topped by the Gorge weekend in my PJ experiences.
I'm just flying around the other side of the world to say I love you

Sha la la la i'm in love with a jersey girl

I love you forever and forever :)

i'd rather have a porsche but.......

Reading this it reminded me of this part of an interview...
So, if my sources are correct, your 40th birthday is coming up [it was July 20] -- so happy birthday!

    Yeah, thanks!

Thinking about that, 40 is kind of the mid-life crisis ...

Oh God, I've got to get a Porsche and divorce my wife.

to all whom I've been posting and joking around with....*** I personally don't have a problem with the Subaru Outback.*** I heard that they are quiet nice and fun to drive. *smiles*

I wish that I could meet Mike. So I can give him a hug, like a little kid does to Winnie the Pooh!!!
"The money flew down and stole my cracker!"

"Every time I go to the doctors I get a jacket, a straight one. It makes me feel special because I get to hug myself."

I am myself like you somehow.
I'll wait up in the dark for you to speak to me.
How I've opened up. Release me.

I have a co-worker who is a huge Swifty. She's my closest friend at work, we had to share a classroom a couple years ago and really got to know each other. Taylor is to her what PJ is to me.
This last weekend she scored las minute tickets to Taylor in Canada. She booked a last minute flight and when she arrived no hotel were available except the nicest one next to the venue at $2,000 a night. Out of her price range, but didn't have other options, so she sucked it up and did it.
It had a really nice concierge lounge and spent several hours with a really nice family. They hung out for the afternoon before the show, took pictures for each other, and were just really nice and great kids.
She gets to the show and has amazing seats, right next to the area with a bunch of celebrities. She looks around, sees that nice family with around other celebrities and spots that family she hung out with. She looks up pictures of the wife and sees the name "Jill Vedder" and it dawns on her!
Then everything made more sense, they talked about about how they love the lyrics of Taylor and how their approach to writing lyrics and songs and how the daughters are striving to be singers. They totally assumed she knew who they were and was just being polite or professional about it. She apologized to me and said if she realized it she would have ran out and got a record for them to sign for me or something.
She has pictures on her phone of her and her daughter taken by Eddie, but none with him, because she had no idea at the time.

I remember seeing Jill at Wrigley in 2016 I think. She was just hanging out between the GA wall and the reserved seating area talking to some people. I would never walk up and say anything but I think anyone could have.

I met Mike riding his bike around before the Houston/Woodlands show in 2003.  He couldn't have been nicer!  Took a pic with him and got him to sign my ticket (which overlapped with the barcode...but it still managed to work).  The one thing I remember was him saying that he "couldn't stay backstage", and didn't like being stuck back there for hours waiting for soundcheck and the show.  Several other people showed up around the same time, so he took time to do all the same for those folks as well.

That must have been awesome for Ed. I bet their family got a great chuckle about it.

I have been lucky enough to meet them all at one point or another and some of them twice. I drove for a car service while I was in college and we drove them when they were in town for a few days. Over the years I have stayed at the same hotel they have been at a few times and bumped into them. They have all always been really nice, humble, and engaging.

My mom texted me this earlier. Nana is my grandma and she lives in a retirement center:

“I found out yesterday that a man at Nana’s place is the father of one of the members of Pearl Jam.    She doesn’t care for him because that’s all he talks about!  So I told her that was your fav group.

They are having a 3 day “Olympic Games” at the facility and he is on her team.   She says he doesn’t pay attention because he’s always talking about Pearl Jam!  Today  is second day, and their team is behind.  Nana takes everything so seriously! “

Maybe the 10c can help and figure out who’s dad it is and tell him to get his head in the game and get my Nana some points!
