I think you are all nuts. Lol

First off, if you hate when a lead singer forgets the words, don't ever go see Mötley Crüe or Van Halen. They play the same set each night and it's expected the singer will forget the words.

Second, PJ has always been influenced by punk over technical playing. Their live shows are about the energy and not playing every note perfect. They are influenced by the Ramones not Rush.

Finally, they just play three nights in SA and nailed it all three nights.

Maybe how tight they are has more to do with how sober they are or maybe Ed looks into the crowd and gets lost and flubs a lyric. Hell, I've never seen them use monitors with lyrics like so many other bands do.

You can have your perfection. I want Rock-n-Roll.

very very well put. I agree with you 100%. pearl jam takes chances, they pull out songs they haven't played in years. they juggle the set list. eddie calls out audibles in the middle of a set and plays a song not on the set list. that is what makes this band unique and the reason why I want to see them live as much as possible.

This was my 'worry' before the Euro tour last year. Their last show before Manchester was in 7/8 months previous in Mexico and the Soundgarden Euro tour finished 10 days before Pearl Jam started their Euro tour. I thought 'how will they sound?', 'will they have had any time to practice?' 'will they be a little rusty?' but those 2 nights they were on fire straight from the off. I think that was the biggest surprise early on in the set on night 1 just how good they were sounding.

I have no doubt they will be fantastic for the 2 gigs in July.
that's exactly what i was thinking

They did NOT nail it on night one by a long shot. The first night was a disaster. They took the stage 45 mins late, stumbled through the set (Which had rarities, which was great and all, but please rehearse them), random guests which took away from songs more than they added, terrible weather, scrapped songs, a curfew they were a complete slave to and one three minute cover song for a second encore in front of 30,000 of their fans. That's far from "nailing" anything and closer to simply embarrassing.

Sounds like someone was upset they weren't there...

I can't even take your argument seriously when u blame the weather on them. Really? the weather? Please explain how that correlates to them not nailing it. :corn:

As far as I'm concerned they did great (hence why there's a petition once a week for the boots to be released). Im not saying it was flawless by any means but how many of their shows are. Having spontaneity and little fumbles is what makes their shows good.

I was there for both nights.

    +1 for both.
I just wanna know how do you call a show sloppy? Can you name anything concrete?

Asking the question, I think I'd start. Brisbane 2009 is a sloppy bootleg, for me. NY MSG 2008 bootlegs are also sloppy for me, here and there but I know there are a lot of fans of these shows.

Other than that, I'd never listened to anything sloppy yet from 2010-2013 period.

I just want to see some examples from those who say the band's playing has goten sloppy in the last years.
What's your part, who you are?

i just feel a little silly when ed forgets half the lyrics to spin the black circle but nails a perfectly rehearsed version of fatal.

Poorly phrased question. It insinuates they'll be rusty. While I've lost faith in the band's capacity to communicate w/ their fan base  , I've haven't lost faith in their ability to put on a whale of a rock 'n roll show 8-) . The band and the fan base both understand the importance of the Wrigley show. It's going to be stellar. There will be little to no rust, any evident rust simply being well-toned nuances of greatness.

The missed lyrics and occasional sloppiness is what makes each performance unique, real, and beautiful, to me at least.

well, my pj concerts were like some first tour gigs: santiago 2005,west palm 08, alpine i y ii and i heard them very tight and precise.

then buenos aires 2013, they really sound good, lima and santiago 2011 they have a few mistakes but nothing to worry about.
