  • I remember when this thread used to go forward 5 or 6 pages a night with all the post-whoring, and then we'd have to search through all the posts for solid news! Those were the days...:D

I agree that Sydney 4 is a stupid idea. Night 3 is selling very slowly as it is.

Does anyone know roughly how many seats are being used at the Perth show? They made 45,000 seats available for Robbie Williams but by the looks of the seating plan there won't be quite as many free for Pearl Jam. I'm still hoping for Night 2.

WHAT??? A FOURTH Sydney concert may be considered??

That's fucking stupid! What is wrong with these people? How about another concert somewhere totally different that they've never been before?

And I don't agree with going to Tasmania....you're too close to the other concerts. You can easily go to Melbourne.

How about Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville, Cairns, Darwin, Alice Springs? Even Rocky is a bit close to Brisbane for my liking.

But nooooooo, let's do FOUR gigs at the same place....even though the THIRD is still selling very poorly!!

Only as far as you are from Brisbane, not that cheap to go to melbourne, or easy for that matter either, just my rant anyway.

why would you be against going to tassie they have never played in tassie out of all places why not there???

there is a serious bit of water between tassie and melbourne.

    2 Points.

    1. 4th Sydney show is silly. They should most def do somewhere else if they feel the need ie: Newcastle, but really should consider The Enmore or the Metro!
Pearl Jam + 1000 people at the metro! Best gig EVER!

    2. I've avoided the board for two days because of the winging american bullshit posts. Fark! What do they expect from them? It makes me ashamed to think there are 'fans' like this and make me embarrased to read material like that....

I still think that Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne are waaaay more accessible from Tasmania than other places up north.

For me to get two flights to see PJ in Adelaide, it was going to cost us over $1,200 to $1,400 in flights alone!!! THAT is why I would love them to come somewhere north of the other shows. Sure, they could go to Tasmania but what would it achieve? The same people flying to Tassie who flew around Australia for the other shows. Maybe a couple of thousand extra Tassies who wouldn't have otherwise travelled to see PJ.

But imagine if it was up north? Somewhere like Cairns! You would have people from Mackay, Mt Isa, Cairns, Townsville, Darwin.....I'm sure I read that there's around 700,000 people from Mackay upwards in Queensland alone. Then you get people from the Northern Territory. What a fucking great concert that would be!!!.

Another reason why I said "no Tassie" is as follows:

    Hobart - Melbourne = $280
    Townsville - Melbourne = $600+ (via Brisbane)

    Hobart - Sydney = $380
    Townsville - Sydney = $600+ (via Brisbane)

    Hobart - Adelaide = $460 (via Melbourne)
Townsville to Adelaide = $800 (via Brisbane)

It is much more affordable to travel from Tasmania than it is to from up north.

Australia is WAAAAAAY bigger than Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide and a lot of people miss out because Australia is so spread out. I think city people forget that.

I think what he was saying is to be more realistic and hope for another concert in Brisbane (which is just as easy (or easier?) for you to get to as Tasmanians to get to the mainland). I mean really, how many of those 700,000 people that live in the North are going to go see PJ in Cairns? You can fly to Brisbane for around $200!

not meaning to offend but your last comment made me say this. there are no cities in tasmania... if youve seen hobart youd understand that.

im not saying that its cheaper to go to melbourne from hobart or whatever. but i dont get why you would get upset if pearl jam played a fourth show in sydney.. like as far as you and i are concerned it doesnt change anything does it...they might as well announce another date in the us but when they do that i dont get pissed off.. i just do not see how this is any different.

they can announce as many shows in woop woop as they want but the only one ill go to on top of what ive got tix for already would be in tassie. so hence why i made the remark of hey why not come to tassie.

i never said hey come to tassie instead of coming to townsville or rockhampton or whatever. just out of interest did you sign the newcastle petition. i mean newcastle is relatively close to sydney... but i think this has been touched on before.

If we actually come to consider what in reality is gonna happen pearl jam will never play in tassie or in townsville. so us saying stuff on a forum is just a bit of fun.

All I'm saying is why concentrate so many concerts in the same area? Why not do one or two somewhere else and give even more people a chance to see them and appreciate them live???

And who knows how many of the 700,000 people would go see them. I personally think a LOT would and the concert would definitely sell out.

I'm not "upset"...although I do think it's stupid when they could have an "alright" concert compared to a fucking "awesome" concert somewhere else.

And of course I signed the Newcastle petition! I'm all for PJ going there -- although once again I do think that if they go there, it is a little disappointing that Newcastle is so close to the other concerts. But good on Newcastle if they get it! VERY happy for them! :D

All I'm trying to do is put an opinion across that it's a shame PJ are playing so many gigs in the same places. Maybe the point came across aggressive. My apologies. I think it would be cool to see:

    2 x Sydney
    2 x Melbourne
    2 x Brisbane
    2 x Adelaide
    2 x Perth
1 or 2 x Somewhere else they've never been before up in north Queensland or northern Perth or Alice Springs or Darwin. :)

No can do chief. It's about 20' or so here. Bloody beautiful. Well a lot nicer than the last winter I had. This is laughable. Wouldn't mind heading back up your way soon. Dig it up there. What's with all the Ed and his politics bullshit I've been reading. Don't tell me he's begun talking about politics. Low and behold.
