Major League...no Its an OK lighthearted movie, but its like saying The Mighty Ducks is the best hockey movie.

    The Natural IMO

I was very disappointed with Cobb as well.
Not to mention it was a fabricated and "enhanced" version of that slimeball Al Stump's already fabricated version of Ty Cobb.

I'd have to go with Major League, but Cobb was really great, and in a year that Tom Hanks won the Oscar for best actor, Tommy Lee Jones was robbed by not even getting nominated.

And I would say that it's more akin to saying that Slap Shot is the best hockey movie, which it most certainly is.

I love ALL baseball movies - even the relatively crappy ones, like the one with the kid who owns a team (Little Big League is it?), or that one with Jimmy Fallon (Major League?). I'm a huge sucker for all sports-themed films. But I think the very best one has to be The Natural. That is a great movie. Plus, I'm in love with Robert Redford. :)

I also like Eight Men Out.
Cobb really was a bit of a disappointment... I think it was the acting for me.

I agree on Slapshot, but Slapshot was a somewhat accurate depiction of Minor League hockey in the 1970s and featured numerous actual hockey players from the North American Hockey League/the Johnstown Jets

Major League is just silly. Its not an awful movie, but I wouldnt consider it anywhere near the top.

    Too high!

What do you mean it's too high?

It's an apropos quote from Major League. I edited the post to include the full quotation and added quotation marks.

Sorry, I'm not one who believes that baseball is some sort of magical ceremony with called shots, shattered lights (spoiler alert: the book ends differently) and ghosts in fucking cornfields that help you resolve your daddy issues. It's a game, which should be fun. Major League is fun.

So maybe I meant too highfalutin/highbrow.
