    Team Notes:
    - The Rangers defeated the Washington Capitals, 1-0, today at Madison Square Garden, in Game 6 of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series. The series is now tied at three games apiece.

    - New York has posted a record of 211-229-8 overall in postseason action, including a 119-88-2 mark at home.

    - This was the 12th time in franchise history the Rangers posted a 1-0 victory in the postseason, and is the third time Henrik Lundqvist backstopped a 1-0 playoff win.

    - Each of the last five games have been decided by one goal, including two that required overtime.

    - The Blueshirts did not allow a power play against in the contest, improving to 3-0 in the playoffs when not allowing a power play goal.

    - The Rangers won 27-45 faceoffs (60%) in the contest, led by Derek Stepan’s game-high, 11 faceoff wins (11-16, 69%).

    - With the win, Head Coach John Tortorella moved into fourth place on the Rangers’ all-time playoff wins list, passing Mike Keenan with his 17th postseason victory behind the Blueshirts’ bench.
    Player Notes:

    - Henrik Lundqvist made 27 saves to post his seventh career playoff shutout, and improved to 28-33 in 61 career postseason contests. He is now 8-3 in his last 11 playoff games at Madison Square Garden, posting a 1.92 goals against average, .920 save percentage and two shutouts over the span. Lundqvist is now tied with Dave Kerr for second on the Rangers’ all-time playoff shutouts list.

    - Derick Brassard notched a goal to extend his point streak to four games (two goals, five assists over the span), and won 8-14 faceoffs (57%) in 19:48 of ice time. He leads the Rangers and is tied for seventh in the league in playoff scoring with seven points.

    - John Moore tallied his first career playoff point with an assist and logged 12:19 of ice time.

    - Mats Zuccarello recorded an assist and was credited with two hits in 20:55 of ice time. He has now tallied four assists in the last four games.

    - Michael Del Zotto was credited with a team-high, five hits, along with two blocked shots in 21:35 of ice time.

    - Anton Stralman registered a team-high, four blocked shots in 21:57 of ice time.

Braden Holtby accused Derek Dorsett of committing a "dirty slew foot" on Mike Green in the third period of the New York Rangers' Game 6 victory over the Washington Capitals. A penalty was called on Green for retaliating by cross-checking Dorsett. Five minor penalties were called on the Caps to none for the Rangers before a scrum at the final horn. Holtby decried that as "lopsided." "The one that we all had a problem with, obviously, was the one on Greenie," Holtby said. ... "It's only because Greenie's world-class, one of the best skaters in the world, that he didn't fall on his back there. It's a dirty slewfoot."

    and how about ward's crosscheck that sent a ranger flying into the net (and nearly into lunqvist). dirty, dangerous play.

    tonight is going to be a shit show. another night of me turning blue on the couch due to the lack of breathing. i am tempted to say lets get a two goal lead, but two goal leads haven't been kind to the rangers this series. seems like they are so used to playing with the one goal lead, they allow too much margin for error when they are finally up two.
