man what an idiot, if you read a few posts down you would see I realized it wasn't at the spectrum, I mean seriously, people are too lazy to read the threads and take the first chance to cap on somebody, if you could read we already established this, I got confused because both building were named Wachovia, seriously that is all you have to offer, rehashing something that was already covered? like Jim Rome says "have a take and don't suck" and yours did
thanks to all of you who contributed to this thread, I am going to download the 2003 show, and check it out, and that is why these threads are cool, it is all about the music
I've only listened to both the '03 and '05 boots, but I remember being a fresh or soph in high school and hearing everyone freak out about the '03 show on the radio from the live coverage on MMR. Personally, I enjoy listening to the '03 more, and everyone is right...there is no comparison between The Spectrum and FU Center (it's name at the time). I've seen concerts at tons of venues in tons of states, and not one comes close to it acoustically. Well not counting small clubs or anything like that.
I brought my friend from college who is a hardcore Boston guy and even he was blown away by the place. The only good part about piss breaks in the one bathroom for guys was the fact that standing there taking a piss, it still sounded like you were 10 rows deep. A bit of hometown bias but I freakin miss that place.
But going to the '09 shows, the atmosphere in the parking lot, the train, the whole entire city was something I'll never see again. With the Phillies in the Series against the Yanks, Flyers game before Night 4 on Halloween and Eagles/Giants game on Sunday....the whole Southeastern PA/NJ area was on a week long high. Something the boots can't capture
I'm in no position to rank it amongst all other shows objectively...
But I will say it's one of my absolute favorites that I've personally been to. Great show, caught it the night before my wife (then fiancee) and I traveled back home for our wedding!
I have been lucky enough to attend most of the "epic" shows of the last decade and there is no doubt that Philly 05 is right up there...
It was a special one time show added to accommodate area fans that got screwed in the borgata ticket sale and post sale ticket flipping frenzy that ensued... How many times do you see a last minute add on to close a tour? The rocky theme playing on the site all week leading up to the announcement... Actually playing Philly and not over at urine soaked Camden... The perfect weather for the show... The Canadian whiskey I brought back from touring in Canada a few weeks earlier... Last real show of the tour... The long setlist which is right up there with any setlist I have witnessed... The great mix of covers... The rarities... Wash opening... Around the bend, harvest moon, breath, and crown of thorns in the 1st encore... Once, bleed for me, blood closing the 1st set... An Elvis cover... This is why I love non album tours and shows, the set is totally varied... The atmosphere... Everything about that show was top notch
Absolutely an amazing concert that I would relive in a second... Hope they play there in the fall

but it was difficult
in the first few minutes
to "downshift" from The Borgata ( the previous 2 shows ) down to Wachovia Center.
There were just 3 x the amount of fans there,
and alltho not as crazy-intimate, still a great night of Pearl Jam .

Hearing all this talk kills me because for these 05 shows I was a senior in HS but it was during football season so we couldn't make it. This was right around the time when we tried going to see concerts other than OAR and Dave in Camden on the lawn every summer
But my first PJ show would have to wait for another 3 years. Boy did I miss out on some good ones. :fp:
For me, ranking the "proper" Philly shows, so that excludes Camden, they would rank as follows:
1 - 4/28/2003
2 - Night 3 of the closing of the Spectrum
3 - 10/3/2005 Wachovia
Thos would be my top 3 in Philly. The 2003 show was one of my all time favorites, for me the experience was amazing.

Couldn't agree more! I can't compare against the '03 show but for the shows I've been to this is by far one of my favorites, and I've been to a couple of good ones. If I need a PJ bootleg fix this is the one I reach for.
And I was at the Night 2 Borgata, while that show had the once in a lifetime intimate show (currently), the Wachovia show just topped it for me. And to top it off I met some great PJ friends at the Borgata show, so that is definitely saying something!!
