Bootlegs...Am I missing something?
I've been spending days, if not weeks, searching for the perfect boot to use my code for. I narrowed it down to a number of shows between 2000-2003. When it came time to go to the shop for the download I noticed only the boots from 2008-2012 are available. Did I miss something? What gives? Not really worth complaining about, just curious.

dude
if you get something from 2008
get columbia, sc
2&1/2 hours and NO covers
berlin 2010 is awesome as well
"what a long, strange trip it's been"
The 2004 tour wasn't released (the vfc tour). The 2005 tour was digital only as mp3, and 2006 as Flac and Mp3.
There were finding their footing for those years. I think the current providers of the music files and burned bootlegs came about in 2008, so that's why they only go back that far.
edit: to be fair it's not that card to rip digital copies from the cd's or find 05/06 digital files (from a different provider). You would think they could put them up, but I guess not.
The good thing is they don't seemed to be too worried about making copies as they aren't for sale anymore. So you'll probably end up saving a few bux and finding them around for free.
The good news is there are super cool guys here who go far out of their way to help you through it. I will try to copy & paste for you one thread that I think can help you with finding 2000/2003 boots.
If you are into sing-alongs, you better get the newer bootlegs. 2010 boots are also good in terms of the band playing as tight as ever.
2012: Arras, Berlin 1-2
2013: Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires
2014: Milano, Trieste, Vienna, Berlin
2016: NY MSG 1
Oh and dont thank me, thank the cool guy who did that thread.

I won't speak for him, but i think the band's playing in 2010 was very sloppy.
I am sure you have your own reasons. Every ear has its own veins and stuff. :corn:

Upon a time
The playing in 2010 wasn't as tight as they've ever been. 98-2003 jump out to me as an obviously tighter band. We don't have a ton of great quality examples, but alot of the early stuff was really tight as well. I think they've been on a steady decline since about 2006.
2006 had some serious moments
but you're right
and tightness will suffer when there aren't as many dates. it takes like 7-10 shows for a touring band to start hitting its groove, but with the recent touring patterns, after that many shows, the tour is like 60% over.
Maybe you have a point and maybe someday I will get where you are coming from. Until then, I will just assume you are biased or your ears are betraying you. :ugeek:

Anywho, 2012 boots are amazing for the most part and its hard to go wrong. 2012 is easily the best sounding boots we have ever received. Berlin 2, Atlanta, and Pensacola 2012 get a lot of play on my phone. Great boots. Hard to be disappointed with those. Big bank hanks sample of deluna fest in Pensacola is a good example to check out.
2010: Bristow
2012: Atlanta
2013: Charlottesville, Charlotte
2014: Cincinnati
2016: Greenville, Hampton, Raleigh (cancelled), Columbia, Lexington

I wonder if they will someday have available @ the 10club store just the '00 & '03 show's in Flac / MP3 format for download. The silver CD pressed CD's are sold out. Many year's back a few bootlegs from '03 were available for sale @ the 10club store. Less then a handful of them.
For the time being if the '00 & '03 are what you are looking for there are many MANY fan sites that have their CD > Flac/Mp3 rips available for download, freely.
I don't have any reason to be biased. You think I want one of my favorite bands of all time to get sloppier?
I just don't know what to say to the bolded part. I'm sure there were moments during the 03 tour that were rough, but I can only think of a few short moments that were as bad as a few of those Philly 09 shows and I don't think they were ever great outside of that one. And to me, the small gaffs in 03 are more forgivable with the chances they were taking on a night in night basis with the setlists.
The more recent bootlegs do sound better than they were in 08 and 09, but the playing is still rushed and they're just not as tight as they were during their middle period. Still don't think the bootlegs sound as good as 2000 and 03, but they are close. Could be just an honest representation of how the band sounds, as they had a much thicker sound in 2003 than what they do now. The 08 and 09 bootlegs really suffer, though.

I enjoy 2003 a lot, but shows like Fargo and west palm beach have their share of errors. Now, forgivable or not they are still errors that are noticeable. I'm not stating the 2003 tour is overall sloppy. I might classify 2008 in that manner. The Philly 09 shows are an overrated borderline disaster. I agree, sloppy as can be. I do however find 2010 to overall be about as tight as 2003.

I wouldn't touch anything post 2006 - All the best boots are from 2000 - 2006.
Probably because they are hardly together anymore to rehearse. I can see how doing other projects is more fun for them. When you play Even Flow over 2000 times in your career(practice and shows) it could get quite boring.
