Your favourite first 2 songs at a show
Dimi's comment in the "Worst opener" thread got me thinking about this. I don't want to hijack that thread so I started this one instead.dimitrispearljam wrote:Go-Animal is epic when they open with those in the row..
u get it..its afuckin pj show...
What's your favourite opening 2 song combination at a show?
I've had Go -> Animal twice (and Animal -> Go once) and the place went nuts both times but I prefer the slow song -> fast song openers. I think my favourite combination from the shows I've been too is either Release -> Animal or Hard To Imagine -> Save You
Animal -> Go
Nothing As It Seems -> Breakerfall
World Wide Suicide -> Life Wasted
Go -> Animal
Interstellar Overdrive/Corduroy -> Do The Evolution
Alive -> Life Wasted
All Or None -> Education
Why Go -> Corduroy
Hard To Imagine -> Save You
Release -> World Wide Suicide
Sometimes -> Interstellar Overdrive/Corduroy
Release -> Animal
Release -> Do The Evolution
Go -> Animal
What are your favourite combinations?
“Do not postpone happiness”
(Jeff Tweedy, Sydney 2007)
“Put yer good money on the sunrise”
(Tim Rogers)

It's a great question, one I look at when I analyze bootlegs.
Long Road->Corduroy.....Flows really well and builds tension nicely.
Interstellar Overdrive into Corduroy-> Why Go
Go->Animal.....Not the other way around, I don't care for Animal as an opener.2008: Bonnaroo
2010: Bristow
2012: Atlanta
2013: Charlottesville, Charlotte
2014: Cincinnati
2016: Greenville, Hampton, Raleigh (cancelled), Columbia, Lexington

Agreed! The emotion in the building was great and it set a perfect pace for the evening!"There's a $10,000 bill in it for you."
"Oh yeah? Which president's on it?"
"Uh, all of them. They're having a party. Jimmy Carter's passed out on the couch."

The coolest and best opening that I have seen was Release into RVM. I like the jamming that occurs in RVM when it is late in the set, but when it came this early it was just a furious short rocking version that was amazing.
Also good openings were Oceans into Breakerfall and Releas into Animal!2000: Roskilde
