For what it's worth...... At the Ed Ved solo show in Memphis (last November), Ed said that he wasn't just out playing solo shows.... He said he was scouting venues for when he and "the boys" get back out. The south is about to get some love.
If I had a say in it.....2 nights in Nashville. 1st night outside at the Fontanel, night 2 at the Ryman.
I don't know where all this Pittsburgh and Boston talk is coming from; I'm obviously (and always) out of the loop.
But I really think they'll follow the Backspacer touring cycle.
They're playing Chicago and Ontario in the summer. They didn't hit either of these cities/territories during either of the Backspacer legs because they already got them "out of the way" with the Toronto and Chicago shows pre-Backspacer.
They have a logical stopping point in New Orleans. The only reason they made it out of Philly during the first leg of the Backspacer tour was to shut down the Spectrum. I could see them opening up in Seattle and then play Portland; San Francisco, L.A. or Oakland; Las Vegas; Albuquerque or Phoenix; Salt Lake City or Denver (is it the same place?); Dallas or San Antonio; maybe Oklahoma City; and then New Orleans.
They won't play Florida or Atlanta because of last year's festivals.
I could then see them play a spring tour of Nashville or Memphis, Charlotte or Raleigh, Cleveland or Pittsburgh (but I am feeling a hometown show for us yinzers), Philly, Brooklyn, maybe the Garden, Jersey, Hartford, Buffalo, Boston.
This is just a hunch.

Would be nice if your hunch came to fruition would love to see a Charlotte and Raleigh date.
I just hope they give different cities a chance or go back to places they haven't been to in a while. And I don't mean you New York. 3 years is nothing. Although I not saying I wouldn't go:p

...Salt Lake City or Denver. About 6-8 hours drive time between them. They wont be back to SLC, ever. They didnt sell very well there in 09. Too bad, too. Thats as close to me as it gets.

Yeah that '09 Salt Lake show was not great for the casual PJ fan (although PJ and the set list were awesome). The building was maybe 60% full and the sound was awful. Not PJ's fault, just both of the indoor venues we have here in SL area are terrible accoustically and if there is not a full house it just tends to echo. It was sad because I got a bunch of my friends and family (casual fans at best) to buy tickets and go to the show and all were very disappointed. That was the first time since '98 they had played SL and I am pretty sure the last.

If they play Pitt hope it is 9/1.
