I would prefer a different band. I saw these guys live for the first time last month and it felt like they were playing the same song over and over again.

I agree. They are so generic and boring. If they open for PJ, I will have more time to pre-game .

I was excited for the show based on comments from people on this board. I listed to a couple records. I'm sure a lot of why I thought it all sounded the same was due to not knowing the material very well, but really it felt like the tempo of the songs never changed the whole night.

They are both playing the Voodoo Fest.

I see all this talk about people wanting Gaslight Anthem to be the opening act. And I've never even heard a song by them....

 It certainly is interesting how much music is out there. And I personally can't listen to many of their albums, which is why I was so shocked when I saw them live for the first time. Much better live band than in studio.... Like 150% better. But hey, I still want Japandroids.

I'd have to vote for somebody else. If it was GA, I would most likely skip the opener for the first time ever. A decision I should've made when the Buzzcocks opened as well. The problem is, I don't like being late on the chance I might see Eddie play a song on my bucket list pre-show.

They would be an awesome opening act. Never going to please everyone but X would please almost no one.

I'm all for it. I actually enjoyed seeing X 10 times last year, but something new would be great. My absolute favorite would be QOTSA opening, but I doubt that will happen.
  • I like Philip Glass as an opener ..... about a 3 minute set

Fallon is a HUGE Pearl Jam and Ed fan. Zero chance he turns down that opportunity.

Gaslight is getting bigger yes, but the aren't any bigger than Kings Of Leon was when they opened for PJ in 2006 and 2008. Same for My Morning Jacket. They are still playing pretty small places.

There's the Brendan O'Brien connection and the DeLuna appearance also to consider.

I would also love to see Japandroids.

That being said it will be X if you ask me.

The man is a proud 10C member and has admitted their own fan club may have borrowed a thing or two from the 10C. Fallon also said he wants their new album to be their "No Code."

And with all the love on this thread for Japandroids, it looks like I'll have to check them out.

    03 - Tampa
    08 - Tampa
    12 - DeLuna Fest, EV Orlando 1 & 2, EV Ft Lauderdale 1 & 2

14 - Leeds, Milton Keynes, St Louis
    16 - Ft Lauderdale, Miami, Tampa, Jacksonville, Wrigley 1 & 2

I just checked out Japandroids too. I like it a lot except the longer I listen, the singers voice gets pretty repetitive and a little annoying and winy.

Would also love to TGA open, would probably see multiple shows if this would occur.

Gaslight's song "American Slang" is in a way what PJ is. The band that "cut me to ribbons, and taught me to drive". Check it out.
