Best Rock Clubs: Poll by Rolling Stone
Results: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/lists ... a-20130328
Thought this was a cool poll. This one is about the Best Rock Clubs, they are also doing theatres, amphitheatres, arenas and dance clubs. Feel free to agree, disagree, be indifferent
I was happy to see Bowery Ballroom at #1, it's one of my favourite venues and was lucky enough to see Chris Cornell there last year! I also love Le Poisson Rouge which didn't make the cut.
Voters:
Corin Tucker (Sleater-Kinney, Corin Tucker Band)
Thomas Mars (Phoenix)
Britt Daniel (Spoon)
Mike McCready (Pearl Jam)
Patrick Stump (Fall Out Boy)
Miranda Lambert
DJ Harvey
Bassnectar
Sharon Osbourne (manager, Ozzy Osbourne)
Scott Rodger (manager, Paul McCartney and Arcade Fire)
Dennis Arfa (agent, Billy Joel, Metallica, Rod Stewart)
Jim Guerinot (manager, Nine Inch Nails and No Doubt)
Tom Windish (agent, numerous indie-rock acts)
Andy Cirzan (promoter, Jam Productions in Chicago)
John Scher (promoter in New York City, manager of Art Garfunkel)
Kelly Curtis (manager, Pearl Jam)
Daniel Glass (head of Glassnote Records)
Michael Rapino (Live Nation)
David T. Viecelli (agent, Arcade Fire, David Byrne/St. Vincent, many others)
Brian Ahern (agent, William Morris Endeavor)
Bob McLynn (manager, Fall Out Boy, Courtney Love, many others)
Bertis Downs (manager, R.E.M.)

From the Rolling Stone:
What are the coolest music venues in America? To find out, Rolling Stone polled dozens of managers, promoters and musicians – from Miranda Lambert to Thomas Mars of Phoenix – and came up with a comprehensive report on the hottest places to catch a rock show or dance all night. We'll be rolling out new lists all year, from tiny clubs all the way up to huge stadiums. Click on the pins in our interactive map to find out more about each of the venues that made our list.

best place to see a show bar none
that The Croc in Seattle should be included!!
Just wondering though...
Would the Bowery Ballroom still be #1
if SNL's Stephan were on the voting panel
"New York’s hottest club is UHHNNNH.
Located in the middle of the West Side Highway,
this bi-curious beach party is the creation of Italian
club owner Bologna Danza, and this place has everything:
split kicks, pachucos, pile after pile of expired Lunchables,
a Hawaiian cleaning lady that looks like Smokey Robinson."

Also, I've been on stage there with Tom Morello. Twice.
Hopefully I can travel to a few of the others some day!
They also keep ticket prices down, and use Tickeyfly, so service charges are lower. The security goes out of their way to ensure a good setting for shows.
It seems to be the club of choice for most of the PJ side projects....Brad, RNDM & Flight to Mars have played there in the past year.
Seen some great underplays (band playing at much smaller venue then usual) there.....The Foos, Travis,The Cure, The Strokes.
Hooray for the Troub!

That Soundgarden at Irving Plaza was recently right? I remember trying to get to tickets to that not long ago and failing. Hmm. Starting to think I'm cursed!

It's happened a few times for me now, the last minute ticket scoring, so I never lose hope if I don't get tickets initially, just keep checking
