Tool is a great band seen them several times. Danny Carey is a beast on drums but I was disappointed with A Perfect Circle.

Yeah sorry fellow PJ fans...just a throw away question here, not looking for an in depth discussion here, but I came across Tool about 2 years ago and find the band to be, to use a most over used phrase, fkn awesome.
Any fellow PJ fans out there who would like to air their views and suggest what to listen to or what to buy in order of preference, or even just general views on tracks or albums.

    Cheers guys.

Every album is good. Undertow and Ænima? 2 years ago? u have some homework.

I have only cried at 2 concerts. Pearl Jam and Tool.

I don't cry, I was so happy to see them live... I cried.

I can go on, and on , and on.

    TOOL is

Wait, you cried at a tool concert????

Anyways, like everybody else is saying, they only have 5 albums so listen from album 1-5. Only shitty part for you is that this next album and tour can possibly be there last. And if you haven't seen them yet, you better grab a tix next time they're around your parts.

Can't see them playin' Scotland on a farewell tour...we live in hope.

The people next to me actually did. You should have been there to leak on them. I asked them politely to stop, and the guy said mind your own business, the girl kept moaning. Gross.

I love Tool BUT 10,000 Days blows. 3 AMAZING songs (Vicarious, The Pot, and Jambi), the rest is boring or filler.

    Also, this is awesome! http://www.metalinjection.net/latest-ne ... den-ticket
Wings for Marie and 10000 days is pretty killer in my opinion. Rosetta stoned too
  • My iTunes library tells me I've got 7 Tool albums. There's the 5 studio albums alluded to in previous posts, plus 'Salival', which was live album released back in 2000 I believe (which came with a DVD of all their videos to date), and '72826' which is the demo tape that they cut before Opiate was officially released.

Tool is great and I've been fortunate to see them 4 times live. As for my favorites, its has to the the Parabol/Parabola double shot on Lateralus. 10 minutes of great music...

    Enjoy discovering Tool.

  • Now that I'm going back and listening to Salival, the gem on this album is the hidden track at the end which is called "Maynard's Dick". Been a few years since I've heard this and forgot how good this album is.

That's a nice hidden track, but No Quarter, You Lied and Pushit all trump it for the gem of the album, imo.

    Rosetta Stone is decent.

I really love all their previous albums but besides the 3 songs I mentioned, 10,000 Days was really disappointing.

Rosetta Stoned is a real great classic Tool headfuck, in a good way.

I think Vicarious and The Pot come off as Tool lite more than about anything else in their catalog.

Took awhile to come around to it, but I think Right In Two is the masterpiece of the album. Great slow burn momentum builder with an absolutely monstrous crescendo. Undeniably classic Tool, imo.

I do agree 10k Days as a whole was weak, but it's not without it's moment and following Undertow, Aenima and Lateralus..... that's a practically impossible pace to keep up.

    That's nasty.

The last time I saw Tool Maynard had everyone repeating after him when he started to say, "Think for yourself. Question Authority." Then the crowd would yell it. This went on for a few minutes.

I turned to my friend and asked if I was the only one that saw the irony in this whole thing. Finally Maynard filled everyone on how much of a moron they were for following someone in a chant that is saying, "Think for yourself."

One of the funniest things I've ever seen at a show. They have a great sense of humor that is lost on a lot of people.

    :lol::lol: Awesome!
The Band is named TOOL. A tool is something you use. Maynard doesn't even like tool fans, because most don't even get that reference. I'm typing this while looking at a phallic shaped tool sticker taped to my computer tower. Boys and tools.

I remember seeing them on their first big tour with Lollapalooza 93. He came out in drag.

Now he just hangs out in the back in the dark. People thinks they are being cold. I think it's pretty funny.

Tool is the one group that I don't mind being up in the balcony. The last time I saw them, everything was white. For certain songs, they had a movie type thing going on the entire stage and backdrop. So the people in the balcony got a totally different show than the people on the floor.

They should really stop putting out CD's and start putting out dvd's since their music is so visual.

  • Tool was my first concert when i was 13. I wasn't that into Rosetta Stoned before it, but when they played it live i was sooooo blown away and I love it now. I've seen them two more times since then. I was so excited at the last show because they opened with "Hooker With A Penis" and that's one of my faves.

Lateralus is my favorite Tool album and, rightly so, one of my favorite albums of all time.

I've gone back and forth on favorite songs

Right now I'm really digging "The Patient" and "Reflection" has always been one of my favorites
  • Crawl Away- awesome

46 & 2- my ring tone... super awesome

    Prison Sex- awesome

    Stinkfist- awesome... no... super awesome

AEnima- learn to swim... because it's awesome

    Eulogy...

Tool has no bad songs and a ton of wicked songs that are awesome. A 'casual' listener at first... about 5 years ago I went 'all in'. They are the best band out there in my opinion. Have only seen them once and had to travel to St. Paul to do it. Will travel again- except not to Australia.
