It's a shame that shortly after you earned that degree, Velcro was invented.0 -
I say move the damn thing.
You go out back on your brand new deck on a beautiful Saturday evening. You fire up the grill, crack open a few beers, kick back and relax when all of a sudden that damn A/C fires up blowing hot air all over the place!
No my idea of fun/relaxing!
You could pour a new slab pretty easily and cheaply on your own. Then have a guy come and move the unit and re-wire the thing. I'd say it would cost a total (including the cement) of $750.0 -

I have a hammer and a tape measure, but it doesn't look like either of those things were used in this case...0 -
I had a new AC unit installed 2 years ago. They didn't pour a slab, but used this http://www.hvacpartsource.com/DiversiTe ... s/2265.htm instead with fine sand underneath it for leveling. Carried it out on the truck. And the sun it may be shining . . . but there's an ocean in my eyes0

I'm good at telling people what to do. Granted, I've never built a deck, but how hard can it be?JonnyPistachio wrote:maybe everyone that contributed in this thread could come over and we'll put up that deck in no time!
Yeah, Speedy....you supply the beer, and we'll get that baby put together in no time!

Lattice/Vine? And then continuing the deck against the porch? Wouldnt I then be basically blocking the a/c in? You know what I mean? The a/c unit still needs to be accessible. Right? If and when I ever do need a new one, or if this unit needs maintenance, I would be screwed. Right?norm wrote:SPEEDY MCCREADY wrote:Thats about it.
Exactly
Will it work?
i think so...if it were me, i'd probably continue against the house after the a/c...and do the lattice/vine thing i mentioned earlier
Or am I missing something?Take me piece by piece.....

I hear ya. But paying $750 to move what is probably a 10 year old unit VS. paying twice as much for a new unit? To me it would make more sense to get a new unit, and have it installed EXACTLY where I want it. Right?mca47 wrote:I say move the damn thing.

Damn, I wish I could build around this thing, yet not make the deck look Hillbillyish!
