They took him to the back room of the store and called the cops. He has to take some shoplifting class and was fined $200.

Oh and the cop took him out of the store in handcuffs... humiliating and well deserved.

How will this effect his ability to pay rent?

As part time merchandiser at BJ'S we had an employee whole stole an estimated 4k from the store in computers and other electronics. After watching video tapes of his actions over the holidays, he was questioned then confessed to that supposed number it probably was even more money. The cops came then paraded him around and through the store in cuffs (he was crying non stop). Then they called his father who met him and the cops in the parking lot. His father pummeled him in the parking lot in cuffs while the cops stood by and watched. Grand theft was the charge against him, oh he was one lazy 21 year old.

.....lesson learned I hope.

I was at the deluna Fest. In the VIP section and some person had taken off their $800 bracelet. I picked it up, and when I was walking to buy a drink I saw a lady outside the gates. She was singing along and dancing in the parking lot. I asked her what was going on? She said Her favorite band was playing, and she could not afford a ticket, but she drove all the way to the show just to hear them from outside. I gave her that VIP bracelet. I told her to put it on her left wrist and walk through the front gates like she owned the place.

I stole from Perry Farrell. And she walked right. in to the show. She walked right in to the show...

Shoplifting from small independent stores is one the lowest forms of contemptible low-life behavior.  Besides maintaining the used record LP section, I a stock of small quality used CDs at our local used bookstore- my only remaining work since COVID started up- and lately have had an average of about 6 CDs per week walk out the door.  What kind of scum rips off a used bookstore?  It's hugely discouraging.
