Whether it does or will work that way is a completely different question to whether it should, which is all I was saying. Every country in the world breaks International Law on a regular basis, but for all sorts of reasons (Social, economic, political, etc) nobody does anything about it.
The European Commission does give her somewhere to go, those of us outside of Europe don't have an equivalent, but whether she would go there or it would have the desired and legal effect I don't know, (ie I agree with you about the workings, I just meant that this sort of ''crime" contradicts pre-existing laws and is a scary comment on the direction in which the world is headed)

Whether they were provoking or not is irrelevant in terms of the law
I don't mean to offend anyone, a lot of what I say should be taken with a grain of salt... that said for most of you I'm a stranger on a computer on the other side of the world, don't give me that sort of power!

Granted, France has different laws than the US, but to me, freedom to express yourself *edit - within common sense and reason* should always remain in place.

I, in turn, have the freedom to call someone (or quietly find them to be) a fucking idiot for how they choose to express themselves.

(the legal side of this too strikes me as over the top)

Seems to me that she just wanted some attention, and now the courts are giving her that attention.

When I read the headline I figured this was a French woman living in the U.S. I didn't figure the French for the type to have 9/11 sensitivity issues.

They have Muslim sensitivity issues coming out of their derrieres.
