The article didn't mention that it supposedly has to do with budget cuts,
thats what was mentioned on the news.

I've always thought that airport security was the illusion of safety anyway.

I was once made to wait while TSA swabbed my fucking contact solution and toothpaste for bomb residue....because if I were a bomb maker I would have taken my contacts out and brushed my teeth after making a bomb.

I really hope they let us keep our shoes on. Nothing more annoying that having to walk barefoot with arms full of stuff to a bench to regroup before heading to the gate. Not to mention the 1,000 other people that just walked barefoot on the same floor.

I'd heard that it was to be more in line with international regulations.

That said, I read a story the other day about a woman who smuggled a rat-dog in her purse onto a plane via Israel's airport - and they are among the most (if not THE most) rigid when it comes to security.

As to the middle-eastern comment, the times I've flown post-9/11, there were many of that profile (for lack of a better word) going through the security line with me, and they were treated no differently than I.

(the shoes-off thing at the airport totally disgusts me, by the way)
  • No worries here ladies and gents, we have to wait for the box cutters to be allowed back on flights before we panick.
