Small knives now allowed on US flights

I don't know if I think this is okay or not.... at least I don't have to worry about my tiny fold-up scissors on my key chain anymore. :P But I do wonder why they would make the change. I don't really think that convenience as far as knife-packing goes should be a top priority.

    Odd. I've heard it's ok to wear a hair sticks on board. I'd rather be stabbed with a sharp 2 inch blade than a dull 8 inch hair stick. Well, actually I'd rather not be stabbed but you know what I mean!

    I liked George Carlins take on this..

    He mentioned that you could kill a man with a sunday newspaper if you really wanted..

    I think that on most all flights nowadays, if you were to stand up with a weapon in your hand, every able bodied passenger would be looking to bum rush your ass.. I know I would.. I feel the problem of the small knife is over..

    That's true... no one is going to accomplish anything with a keychain pocket knife these days. It's cleverly disguised bombs they need to be looking for.... That said, I brought luggage practically filled with liquids onto a plane headed to NYC before. No one said a word. They only noticed on the return flight.

    One thing about this that bothers me though is that flight attendants seem to be really against it. And I can see why. They don't want anyone jabbing them with little knives, even if it doesn't mean the plane will be hijacked. They really should just pay attention to the flight attendants' desires, since they are the main people who are in danger on a plane.

    Oh, sorry - I misread it. I had a nice picture of Michael Moore coming on board with a baseball bat and a sock fitted over it. :lol::lol:
    Well now I can bring my little fold up (pot) key chain scissors, so I should be fine. I actually hold them between my knuckles when I walk alone at night, so I should be able to foil a terrorist with them too. :P

    And actually got through O'Hare quite a few times, totally forgot I had it, then it got confiscated in Virginia. :( Really wish I had that bad boy back, but I remember thinking how crazy it was that it got through so many times after 9/11.

    It is pretty shocking what you can get through with a lot of the time if we're supposed to believe that the substances that are banned are banned for a reason. So much gets through that I don't really feel like there is any security at all beyond catching the people with bombs actually strapped to their chest and a detonator in their hand. Or if they look like they're from the Middle East of course.
