hope for the hopeless

...making the best of it, playing the cards you get

...fate dealt me a tricky hand

    This is good very good. Good to hear and remember.
    So easy to blame, hard to overcome. But our lives belong to us.

    i don't get the point of this topic, is it just to say that one can't blame anyone else for their problems? ..because there is a lot of controversy around this notion. i'm a parent and an ex addict and have had to face this issue countless times. at what point did my parents fail in their responsibility to me, and at what point was that lack of responsibility forgiven due to the crimes they themselves had to live with? likewise, at what point does my parental responsibility take a backseat to the impact of problems i had to endure at the hand of others?? i've come to the conclusion that as long as i know i'm failing someone else somehow, then it's up to me to find a way to turn that around and if i choose to ignore it and continue to hurt the person (because it's too hard, or whatever) then i am responsible for that hurt. if that person i've hurt then goes and hurt's someone else and blames what i did to them for their actions, then that is their responsibility.. or not- how much of that consecutive action also bears back on me? it's crazy hard to get a grip on. all i know is i found a way to get clean despite the riddles in my mind. my motto was, whatever i feel and whatever i go through during my recovery; don't pick up. simple concept but very hard to carry out. nevertheless if one wants to, one can. i read in a book somewhere that we should focus on the future, find a way to build our dreams and believe in ourselves despite our pasts.. start again, if you will. it won't happen overnight, or in a one hour tv drama as EV said but for so many people it's the only way - 'little steps' lol.

    If life were an hour long T.V. show,I'd channel surf until I found the right one. But it's not. and it's hard, and it can down right consume you if you let it.Sometimes when I feel that all is lost,and that I've exausted all my options.A ray of hope shines through. I don't quite know just what this thread is supposed to be about. But all that I've read has brought tears of Knowing. and I Thank You.

    I get that it is a struggle to be happy.I get that everyone gets disappointed and
