I think a few of those might lose the crowd.. How about

    Nothing As It Seems
    Insignificance
    Grievance
    Light Years

    Also include
    Love Boat Captain
    I Am Mine
    1/2 Full

That's 7 songs that are good jamming songs and represent two albums that never get the play they deserve (post 2003)

Wrigley will be heavy, HEAVY on the hits......these songs will put the casual fan to sleep and out of the show. Wrigley is going to be full of casual fans. You might get one of these, but not likely.

See, I disagree. Don't make it "an evening with pearl jam" if you're going to play a festival set.

I agree with you both I think it will be a greatest hits set BUT why call it" An Evening With Pearl Jam?" Yes, there will be hits played but the statement an evening with PJ leads me to believe we are in for rarites or an acoustic set ala 7-11-03

An Evening with Pearl Jam just means no opening band, not some special setlist. People think all these tickets went to scalpers, but in fact no more tickets than normal are in scalpers hands. The casual fan on the Northside of Chicago and the burbs will be in FULL force at this show...

Unfortunately, light years was not great the few times Ive seen it live.
Nothing as it seems would be nice.

But I love binaural and would like to hear those tunes a LOT more often.

And I have the utmost confidence in EV to prepare an appropriate setlist. The band knows that there will be a lot of fan club members in attendance. No worries. Everyone will leave happy, but not every song will get played!

I just want Of The Girl....I've been obsessed with that song lately.

I am kind of torn on the whole setlist thing. The logical part of my brain says that it will be like a festival show, since there will be a majority of casual fans there. I don't really mind this because these are songs we all love and will enjoy regardless.

But, I would love to have a show with songs I haven't heard live, rarities, that sort of thing. I just don't think it will happen though.
40+ shows, it is never enough!

You guys will get 2 songs off Binaural.
And so you see, I have come to doubt
All that I once held as true
    I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you.

The one I want to hear the most (at any show) is NAIS. I feel like I will never get it for some strange reason.

  • I think folks are making WAY, WAY, WAY too much of the "Evening with" thing.

Look on Live Nation or Ticketmaster, and you will see it's filthy with "Evening withs."

All it usually is is an indicator of no opener. For example, The Black Crowes entire Spring tour is An evening with. And, yes, every show will be special. But, they aren't playing 15 hours every night.

It doesn't mean it won't be a special set, but isn't London also "Evening with?" The terminology has nothing to do with what the show will be like other than to indicate - there's no opening band.

If anything, the "traditionalists" should be pissed that PJ is using any sort of Concert convention that others have used before and aren't "sticking it to the man!" still.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

    Right.
So PJ starting an hour or so earlier than usual does not mean the show will be longer?
No opening band means more PJ unless my math is wrong.
