If it was going to be on Thursday the 18th, I wonder if they would let me in for free since it is my birthday? :D I would still make a reasonable donation anyway!

Ha, that would be great but I'm not going to hold my breath.

thread title needs a question mark

you wouldn't have opened it if it had one

    right?

    that's prick behavior

    So you've met?

Not challenging anyone at all, because I have absolutely no idea, but I am curious as to why another show at Wrigley would be completely out of the question? Assuming that it is ok for Wrigley to host concerts on weeknights, as another poster mentioned about Elton John, why could they not play the Thursday night? Again, to be 100% clear, this is not a challenge to anyone, I am just trying to understand if there is something definitive that would completely rule it out.

its the middle of baseball season! And even though that home team sucks ass and is a joke of a club they need to remove all the flooring from the outfield and let the grass get water and sun before the loser Cubs come back home for games. Also I bet the stage takes 24 hours to set up/break down. Just not practical.

 I just could not imagine the backlash from everyone that already book flights and hotels, I think the site would crash, riots would break out in the streets, Armageddon would be here
...got a mind full of questions and a teacher in my soul...
  • The Elton John/Billy Joel shows were in 2009. There have been 9 shows since with 2 more scheduled and none have been on anything other than a Friday or a Saturday. As it currently stands, every concert, sporting event, movie night, etc. at Wrigley Field has has to be approved by the City Council so I'm guessing that the neighborhood, alderman, city, or even the Cub's themselves didn't like something about weekday shows and has decided against having them again.

I hope there's another show, whether it be the next night or another in the Fall. Seems most PJ fans in Chicago got shutout due the huge national demand for this show. I got my seats though :D

Fair enough and I have heard this as a reason why before, but if the second show was the night before the first, isn't all of that mitigated? I might be wrong about this but I believe the Cubs play there last game at Wrigley on the 14th, so isnt a concert on the 18th feasible?

Anyhow, I think we all know the reality is that it won't happen, but it's fun to keep the possibility alive!
  • I can't find the ordinance written for this year's Wrigley shows but the one written for the Bruce shows last year was actually written for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Bruce only played Friday and Saturday but apparently Sunday isn't out of the question as far a shows at Wrigley are concerned.

I'm not saying they 100% won't, but if there was a second show to be held at wrigley it would have been announced by now...they could play Thursday or Sunday but usually the second date isn't spaced out with a different artist in between so it would be a Thursday most likely. My bet is a smaller show somewhere unless they hit up chicago again in the fall

pearl jam just set the record for the fastest concert to sell out at wrigley, that dude playing the next night has plenty of seats left, they should move him to next weekend of the 26th and let PJ play the 20th. :D
