2005 was one of the greatest tour years (from the quality of the shows and setlists) and there was no album to promote, only hope 2013 can come close to 2005Post edited by Big Bank Hank on0

Well they sold out Wrigley & London in a few minutes with no record. They could do a full blown East Coast tour & sell out in a few minutes. Believe me this!
I'm hoping to for some new music.
And they have not done a full scale US tour since 2003. They will have no problem with the 10-12 US dates this fall, considering 8 of those will probably be San Diego, LA, San Fran, and Seattle.
I've heard "thing's" as well that this Fall Tour will happen on the West Coast, not the East Coast. hmmm .. I've only been to LA & Santa Barbara for Ed. PJ would be my first on the West Coast. If it's a 2 week span of show's, I might do this.

They aren't going to do a full scale US tour even with a new album. Just ask people in the south. I think the most we can expect is 20-25 shows spread along the coasts with a few in the interior.___________________________________________

I won't travel for old material. So I guess I don't have to worry about fall 2013!Gimli 1993

Well, its just good to know what to expect. I do patient pretty well and hope too

Considering the alternatives I'll take the new album just whenever they want to give it.0 -
It's truly amazing how "Pearl Jam" has become the member's side project.0

Not true, the 00's were the last Decade, now you are right about the last 10 years, but being a bit misleading. They released Riot Act in November of 2002. So by 3 to 4 months, they basically have released three albums in the past 10 years and a few months.
But I'm with you. Not enough to keep us all (as) happy (as we could be).Post edited by Wilds on0 -
Actually Riot Act was released in 2002, unless you re trying to count back a decade from 2013, which is just silly to me. And Binaural was released in 2000.Pinstrps wrote:. Pearl Jam have only released two albums in the last decade: 2006′s Pearl Jam and 2009′s Backspacer.
So that's four albums in the last decade. not counting Lost Dogs.
They have released nothing THIS decade.

If I opened it now would you not understand?0 -

the longer we wait however the more i think people will expect.....
I bet all tour Stone has been interviewed about PJ.....
Would welcome a new album like right now but if we have to wait a year so be (we have no other choice

)
I heard one interview Stone did last week in the UK and the DJ didn't ask him about the next Pearl Jam record. I was very surprised

Maybe the DJ is smarter than us all.0 -
let's say the new album comes out in 2014. in 14 years, pearl jam will have released:
2000 Binaural
2002 Riot Act
2006 Pearl Jam
2009 Backspacer
2014 new album
that's an average time of 2.8 years between studio albums, which is NORMAL. Exactly why everyone keeps crying about this band not being a band anymore is beyond me. Also a live album, two giant box sets, held their 20th anniversary weekend, countless tours, etc.
we've also had how many albums featuring members of the band? Jeff has put out what, 4 albums in that time? Tone, While My Heart Beats, RNDM, Tres Mts....How many has stone put out? How many has Ed put out? Each of them is also busy with their philanthropic projects.........what do people expect of this band?Gimli 1993
Fargo 2003
Winnipeg 2005

just be thankful you aren't a Tool fan. same amount of time the band's been around.....half the material. a fraction of the live shows. the singer is a charicature of himself in some god awful band called puscifer. And A Perfect Circle, also known as Fat Free Tool. No live boots. no dvd's. no box sets.
Even Queens of the Stone Age's last album was earlier than Backspacer.Gimli 1993

I don't think PJ knows when the effing album is going to be done!
That's alright, I'll wait.
I'm a patient SOUTHERN (TX) girl who hasn't seen them since 2003.
2003 Dallas
2013 Wrigley
2013 Dallas
2013 Oklahoma City
2013 Seattle

I couldn't say it any better. Especially about taking their time but I guess not everyone enjoys the side projects. I for one love a lot of the stuff these guys are doing outside of PJ. Of course I'd love some new PJ but I'm also happy to wait till they are ready.2-feign-reluctance wrote:The band are enjoying the fruits of their labor IMO - making music on their terms, not terms of a rabid fanbase who would rather they do an album-tour-album cycle like they did way back. The breaks are key to their long term vitality & like in 96' I think anyway, that they don't care who comes along for the ride. Its their art and speaking from personal experience, I think making music can be a very selfish art. An art that can be shared, but isn't created for the ONLY purpose to please others.0 -

Each member has been giving a different philosophy / take when they expect the record will be release. Dear reporters, just stop asking them the same freaking question. It'll be ready when it's ready. They must be sick & tired everyday getting the same old question over & over. If I was them I would just mess with the people & say NEVER!!!
Any music journalist worth his salt would ask that question.
its what people want them to ask, and its the natural question to ask.
Not only that - the average journo doesnt spend his daily life watching this board analyse the latest band members clue as to when the record will appear. In fact its likely they have heard nothing as will a good portion of the casual fans of the band.
So really can you expect a reporter to not ask the band when they might work on new stuff?0 -

Agree with both posts here (apart from the Backspacer bit but anyway.....). I think sometimes people forget these guys aren't in their late 20's/early 30's now. They are hitting 50, have young families and of course the side projects. Releasing albums every 2 years has gone, 3-4 years for an album is perfectly natural at this point in their career - which I think is nowhere near finished! As far as I'm concerned, its quality over quantity. I'd rather wait a year or 2 longer for a quality record than they rush an album out just to appease people and it be awful. Pearl Jam does things on their terms. Always has, always will.2000: Manchester
2006: Dublin; Leeds; Arnhem
2007: London
2009: Manchester

2013: Brad Manchester : Soundgarden Manchester
2014: Amsterdam I & II; Berlin; Leeds; Milton Keynes
2018: Berlin; London II; Boston II
