Yes, so proud! Never doubted him but Ed is so humble and doesn't take moments like that for granted. Roger's reaction the entire time was awesome. "I knew Ed was going to sing the shit out of it"

    this is so good..

DPJ ... have you ever been prouder of "our guy"? He just simply owned that moment! So much so ... people from my work were buzzing about it for a couple of day's. They all know that that's my band ... so multiple people have dropped by my desk to tell me how great Ed was. Pretty cool.

I have now dubbed a few disks for some of these co-workers ... and told them "wait till you hear this". The positive feedback has already been coming in ... via texts.
no,,its one of the highest moment at his career...and you can see it at every move of his body at that Performance..how nervous he was,how Roger treat him, whats the cause of the night, who other names was at the show..and how he felt relief and happy when his singing part ends and let himself enjoy the rest of the song, the smile at his face when he walks to go close to crowd, claps and dance a bit during the solo..and how he smiles when crowd cheers for him....
Unique, and really proud for our frontman!!!!

How bout that kiss that Waters planted on him! Kinda caught Vedder by surprise...great live concert moment!!

Is it weird that we care so much?

I find so much pride in whatever this band does ... it's stupid. I just know how incredible they are and want the rest of the world to know as well ... I guess.

Ed belongs in any discussions of upper echelon lead singer/songwriters. A very proud moment as a fan ... indeed.

I don't think it's weird but I wonder sometimes if the band gets creeped out. I would! It's the same as people who obsess over actors, athletes, etc. The difference is these guys haven't disappointed most of us yet which is why we are still here and our admiration for them just keeps getting stronger over time. I used to never want to meet them in person, worrying that they would turn out to be giant assholes and my world would crumble, but all the stories I've heard from everyone who have met various members of the band have been nothing short of wonderful.

Downloaded 12/12/12 today and almost leaped for joy listening to Comfortably Numb (rather loudly) and being blown away by how great it all was...I was there and just wanted to bottle the moment. You can hear when Roger stops singing to kiss EV...happy memories :D Ed can definitely pull of Pink Floyd.

My manager, who's probably in her late 50's and who had never listened to Pearl Jam (but called me an "old soul" because I listen to them haha), sent me a text when he was performing saying "Wow, he is incredible. Sounds fantastic. Very impressed." A few days later, she goes on youtube and plays the performance, blasting it in our department. She claimed it was for me but she was glued to the screen

I sense a new fan coming aboard

This band, and even sometimes just Ed, sucks you into their vortex.

It sounds like they manufactured crowd noise in the background of some of these tracks. It is like the crowd is cheering every second of the songs.

not sure what tracks you're talking about....
    but we watched it live.....

you could hear the crowd get VERY loud when Ed started singing.....and it matches up with the iTunes release.

This song was the highlight of the entire 4 hours. As soon as Ed opened his mouth, the crowd totally erupted! The sax player standing behind Ed couldn't stop grinning. The other poor singer was probably seething with jealousy. And I bet Roger Waters made Ed a job offer immediately afterward.

4 hours? The show clocked in at 6 hours 1 minutes & 21 seconds. :P

It doesn't sound like there was much editing or mixing / mastering on the iTunes release. I hope for the CD release the audio mix is a little better. And yes you can hear a lot of background screaming & fan noise during the Ed track. There wasn't that much on the HDTV broadcast, but that part when Ed started his first note, the crowd's cheer just blew the fucking roof off.
  • I felt tears come to my eyes when Ed started the first note and the crowded cheered-it was very emotional for me! Did anyone else have this reaction? The whole song absolutely blew me away! :D

Um yeah...I stopped watching after about 4 hours, and even that felt more like 44 hours! :?

Absolutely! The symbolism of the moment gets to me every time. The voice of my music generation was representing me/us (fans)... on the biggest stage on earth. Watching members of Pearl Jam have the admiration of the greatest musicians that ever lived ... validates my instincts and loyalty since 1992. Not that i'd think any different without it. But I was raised by a family who swore and still swear by The Beatles, Stones, The Who, Zepplin and everything else that is considered classic.

When they see their music hero's adore mine ... it's pretty cool.

Was listening to show today and realized that Alicia Keys immediately followed both the Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney during the show. Wow, she had to feel pretty honored to do that. Probably a little nervous too.

Also realized Adam Sandler sang more at the show than Eddie Vedder. Bummer. No offense to Sandler who did a great job.
