Comfortably Numb on itunes: HO-LY-SMOKES!!!!

I just received my pre-ordered Sandy relief concert download in my itunes ... and let me tell you ... I watched it live and I have replayed the youtube clips several times since. I had already thought Ed nailed it. But now ... after listening to it properly mixed and loud through my impeccable speakers ... EDDIE MOTHERFUCKING VEDDER is downright magical on this track!

I'M TALKING SOME SERIOUS CHILLS!!!! Oh man! To hear the crowd cheering swell after his first words and after he ends that same first chorus is electrifying. Tons of emotion going through my body as I write this.

At the risk of sounding overly dramatic ... I'm not sure that this isn't one of Eddie finest moments in Rock-n-Roll. On the world stage ... singing a legendary song with the legendary Waters ... amongst a galaxy's worth of music legends ... and ABSOLUTELY NAILING IT! ... AND THEN SOME!

It was Eddie spiking his flag into the upper echelon of Rock singers lore.

Or at the very least ... It has brought this grown man to tears. Haunting!

  • Bought this as well. What a concert. Eddie killed this song.

I can not understand where he was at for Baba O'Riley. How he was not out singing more I do not get but what a treat for Comfortably Numb. I'll take it!

It sounds like they manufactured crowd noise in the background of some of these tracks. It is like the crowd is cheering every second of the songs.
  • i put the media player at repeat
"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".

not sure what tracks you're talking about....
    but we watched it live.....

you could hear the crowd get VERY loud when Ed started singing.....and it matches up with the iTunes release.

During Alicia Keys "No One" song. I am probably wrong, but just listening to it seems like there is steady cheer from the crowd that seems out of place. It sounds like cheering that is normally done after a song is over just at a lower level. Maybe it is just talking (lots of that during the show - distracting during every slow song). Great song though.

I think with The Who only playing a few songs ... Pete didn't want to take the mike away from Roger. Especially with their last proper U.S. tour on the horizon.

She did great with her two songs. Cell phones are the prized possessions of most Americans now. Just the state of humanity unfortunately. She could have said lighters instead, but it is 2012 and people turn the light on their cell phones instead.

Alicia killed it. I love her. She wanted to light up the garden and phones are a lot less hazardous than fire, although I really thought the garden was going to go up in flames during live and let die :lol: I can't believe Paul McCartney didnt even flinch the whole time those fireworks were going off

I thought the noise blew his ears out during the song. After the song was over it looked like he was in pain and had his fingers in his ears. He's a pro.

    this is so good..

DPJ ... have you ever been prouder of "our guy"? He just simply owned that moment! So much so ... people from my work were buzzing about it for a couple of day's. They all know that that's my band ... so multiple people have dropped by my desk to tell me how great Ed was. Pretty cool.

I have now dubbed a few disks for some of these co-workers ... and told them "wait till you hear this". The positive feedback has already been coming in ... via texts.

no,,its one of the highest moment at his career...and you can see it at every move of his body at that Performance..how nervous he was,how Roger treat him, whats the cause of the night, who other names was at the show..and how he felt relief and happy when his singing part ends and let himself enjoy the rest of the song, the smile at his face when he walks to go close to crowd, claps and dance a bit during the solo..and how he smiles when crowd cheers for him....
Unique, and really proud for our frontman!!!!

Yes, so proud! Never doubted him but Ed is so humble and doesn't take moments like that for granted. Roger's reaction the entire time was awesome. "I knew Ed was going to sing the shit out of it"

Is it weird that we care so much?

I find so much pride in whatever this band does ... it's stupid. I just know how incredible they are and want the rest of the world to know as well ... I guess.

Ed belongs in any discussions of upper echelon lead singer/songwriters. A very proud moment as a fan ... indeed.

I don't think it's weird but I wonder sometimes if the band gets creeped out. I would! It's the same as people who obsess over actors, athletes, etc. The difference is these guys haven't disappointed most of us yet which is why we are still here and our admiration for them just keeps getting stronger over time. I used to never want to meet them in person, worrying that they would turn out to be giant assholes and my world would crumble, but all the stories I've heard from everyone who have met various members of the band have been nothing short of wonderful.

Downloaded 12/12/12 today and almost leaped for joy listening to Comfortably Numb (rather loudly) and being blown away by how great it all was...I was there and just wanted to bottle the moment. You can hear when Roger stops singing to kiss EV...happy memories :D Ed can definitely pull of Pink Floyd.
