Band afraid to admit its over ?

It's just the facts of life to me...
They are not 25 anymore and they have families to tend to. They have earned the right to do whatever pleases them, and that means taking things at a slower pace. It's very very apparent, especially after going to some of the Ed solo shows that he's very focused on family. He gets genuinely excited by kids (not just his own) and at one of the Texas shows I went to he even mentioned how it's totally different writing songs post-kids vs. pre-kids, the mind is in a totally different place....and finding the time to do it as well!
Along with that he also mentioned how he is so blessed to be in a band with his best friends...they aren't going anywhere, they are just accepting where they are at...grown up.
I will admit the business side of me can't help let sad thoughts creep in with the way I see the focus turning to the past and nostalgia though. Even Facebook updates from the band, E.V, J.A.A., etc are all things about "on this day 4 years ago the band played xyz" and "it's the 5 year anniversary of ____ album". Now I understand you have to fill down time with something, and we all love looking back BUT, as with everything, the minute you start looking back you stop moving forward, that does concern me a bit.
that's my $0.02 anyway..

Some good points and I agree. On the Facebook thing I don't think the band would have much to do with that, I'd imagine the updates are from 10c itself and the EV and JAA are fan pages I believe.
I know alot of people on here ask about when there will be a No Code/Yield reissue but Jeff recently said the band itself are pretty much done at the minute on looking back and don't want to become a nostalgic act2000: Manchester

PJ hasn't toured the US in how long? Their new album isn't finished yet? They aren't doing things the way I the fan demand them to?

AND they didn't play Minnesota in 2012. Total grounds for divorce.

Being my age ...
old
I worry much more about health issues for them then I do them deciding to disband.
Their well being and happiness is of most importance.0 -

Very true. People need to get realistic. What if Ed's arm injury earlier in the year had been more serious and resulted in him unable to continue in the band? Lets not take the guys for granted and just enjoy them. I always treat a PJ gig as possibly the last time I see them and enjoy it.2000: Manchester

I think they just like doing what they want, when they want. I wish they played 100 shows a year and played the south, but the fact is they don't want to do either. I think the guys love being in PJ and I don't see them calling it quits anytime soon, however I think it will continue at a much slower pace than in years prior.
The only real fear I have deals with soundgarden. I'm a big SG fan, but much bigger PJ fan. I've read countless interviews where the guys in PJ say how much they love Matt and he will be their last drummer. I fear that SG could take Matt out of PJ for longer periods of time and the albums and tours will be less frequent.0 -
The few festival dates with PJ give them the cash.
The sideprojects is what they really want too do.
They seem reluctant to really be in the band and do things together.
Yeah, I think there are not many years left before they are over or in some sort of endless hiatus."Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0 -
Relax. It's not over.
The band members are just enjoying doing some solo stuff right now. Once they get back in the studio, I'm thinking we should have a PJ record in mid- late 2013. All is good. Ed also mentioned on his solo trek, that he is looking to report back to the other fellas in PJ for the next tour. Here'es to hoping the South gets some 2013 tour love.
Once, they feel like getting back in the studio, they will have fresh creative ideas, and the new record will be done once they are ready. They definitely aren't going to tour like they did in the early 90's, but they do tour still, and it will be great to see them again. PJ: 10/14/00 06/09/03 10/4/09 11/15/13 11/16/13 10/08/14
