Fucking savages.
Why do stores keep on doing these sales? There are already dozens of videos on YouTube showing out of control shoppers... so why in the hell don't stores do controlled entry, with a monitored line outside of the store, and letting in only a certain number of shoppers at a time? Clubs do it every fucking night. They do it in Canada all the time for Boxing Day Sales.... So why do Americans keep on going for the mob scene? It's weird.

My natural reaction was to feel disgust for the shoppers (and I still do, of course. What monsters.), but then after a few minutes, I turned by a lot of my disgust towards Wal-Mart for letting it happen year after year, even after they've had a death and injuries to customers from Black Friday stampedes in the past. You'd think they would have learned their lesson and set up company-wide procedures for controlling the crowds.brianlux wrote:Holy shit! Here's a clip of a similar scene from Black Friday, November 1849 at the opening bell of the big sale at Hank's General Store:

Something just occurred to me: Our city has a riot once in the while, whenever there is a Stanley Cup final ( :fp: ), and in the last riot, the looters who burned and pillaged the downtown core were WAY more respectful of each others space than these people are on Black Friday. :?With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. DUDE I went to Toronto for a weekend for Pearl Jam on 9/11/11 and the place rioted all night long! The mindset is madening! Canadians have losers also, and they all seem to be out after midnight causing the police on horses to risk their lives trying to control the crazy drunkards!Theres no time like the present

You are right and you are wrong.
Businesses and other such organizations have a responsibility to ensure a safe environment for patrons. With very little control over their customers... the store borders on- or maybe even crosses well over into- negligence.

Exactly. I have fully acknowledged that the shoppers are savages. But Walmart not oy let's way way too many people into the store at once, knowing thing can get SK out of control someone could die because its happened to them before, but they also actually purposefully great the conditions for this kind of shit. They have people gather around in a big crowd, hold them I. suspense for a while, and then yell put the price of the product everyone is swarmed around so that the feeding frenzy can begin. It's almost like they're orchestrating some kind of rigged hidden video reality show - when shoppers go wild. Fuck, i've actually seen video taken by peolle who are simply there to watch this happen for entertainment's sake, and Walmart stages the event. Walmart should be forced to stop this shit before another person is killed.Thirty Bills Unpaid wrote:fear4freedom wrote:PJ_Soul wrote:

I would think that by now, people would know what they're (potentially) subjecting themselves to - Wal-Mart or not...and, more importantly, people should and are capable of governing themselves. It's like going to a GA show - if you're not willing to be in a tight space, pushed, shoved, then don't go.0

Yup... But security/the venue is ultimately responsible for people getting hurt because they let the crowd get put of control, or worse, create an atmosphere that actually promotes stampeding, I.e. getting up on a chair in the middle of the GA crowd and screaming, "PJ merch only $1 right HERE!!!!" Plus, we're talking about the inside of a department store, not a rock concert. If we base how everything is done by what flies at GA rock concerts, then the world will collapse into chaos pretty soon!hedonist wrote:I would think that by now, people would know what they're (potentially) subjecting themselves to - Wal-Mart or not...and, more importantly, people should and are capable of governing themselves. I'm not saying to use those same parameters - obviously a different scenario! - but common sense has a place within both. Of course it's incumbent upon those providing that environment to try and ensure safety, but that doesn't give license to folks to then act like out-of-control assholes.PJ_Soul wrote:
