Fucking savages.

Why do stores keep on doing these sales? There are already dozens of videos on YouTube showing out of control shoppers... so why in the hell don't stores do controlled entry, with a monitored line outside of the store, and letting in only a certain number of shoppers at a time? Clubs do it every fucking night. They do it in Canada all the time for Boxing Day Sales.... So why do Americans keep on going for the mob scene? It's weird.

Holy shit! This video is like watching insanity at the edge of the apocalypse. I don't know whether to laugh, cry or vomit.

My natural reaction was to feel disgust for the shoppers (and I still do, of course. What monsters.), but then after a few minutes, I turned by a lot of my disgust towards Wal-Mart for letting it happen year after year, even after they've had a death and injuries to customers from Black Friday stampedes in the past. You'd think they would have learned their lesson and set up company-wide procedures for controlling the crowds.

Here's a clip of a similar scene from Black Friday, November 1849 at the opening bell of the big sale at Hank's General Store:

Something just occurred to me: Our city has a riot once in the while, whenever there is a Stanley Cup final ( :fp: ), and in the last riot, the looters who burned and pillaged the downtown core were WAY more respectful of each others space than these people are on Black Friday. :?

You are right and you are wrong.

Businesses and other such organizations have a responsibility to ensure a safe environment for patrons. With very little control over their customers... the store borders on- or maybe even crosses well over into- negligence.

I never said Canadians don't act like morons. I already mentioned riots in Vancouver. I'm only talking about shopping behaviour.

Exactly. I have fully acknowledged that the shoppers are savages. But Walmart not oy let's way way too many people into the store at once, knowing thing can get SK out of control someone could die because its happened to them before, but they also actually purposefully great the conditions for this kind of shit. They have people gather around in a big crowd, hold them I. suspense for a while, and then yell put the price of the product everyone is swarmed around so that the feeding frenzy can begin. It's almost like they're orchestrating some kind of rigged hidden video reality show - when shoppers go wild. Fuck, i've actually seen video taken by peolle who are simply there to watch this happen for entertainment's sake, and Walmart stages the event. Walmart should be forced to stop this shit before another person is killed.

I would think that by now, people would know what they're (potentially) subjecting themselves to - Wal-Mart or not...and, more importantly, people should and are capable of governing themselves. It's like going to a GA show - if you're not willing to be in a tight space, pushed, shoved, then don't go.

Yup... But security/the venue is ultimately responsible for people getting hurt because they let the crowd get put of control, or worse, create an atmosphere that actually promotes stampeding, I.e. getting up on a chair in the middle of the GA crowd and screaming, "PJ merch only $1 right HERE!!!!" Plus, we're talking about the inside of a department store, not a rock concert. If we base how everything is done by what flies at GA rock concerts, then the world will collapse into chaos pretty soon!

I'm not saying to use those same parameters - obviously a different scenario! - but common sense has a place within both. Of course it's incumbent upon those providing that environment to try and ensure safety, but that doesn't give license to folks to then act like out-of-control assholes.

corporate whores convincing the masses that they are in for a "deal"....... I wonder what the actual savings is for all those that fall for the Black Friday charade. My guess is that shoppers aren't saving much overall. They are just being suckered.

i never said it was only a wal mart thing. and it is in fact the stores' fault as well as the shoppers' fault for this bullshit behavior. year after year the same scenario is played out across this country. the stores are not just wal mart stores but others too. but for some reason wal mart is at the top of the list for this dangerous friday after thanksgiving shopping fiasco.

and as someone has stated already. there is probably no true super duper savings and is solid bullshit. and here is his or her message....

i agree with this statement 100% and i still stand by my statement that the stores years after year that have stampedes and dangerous aisles of crazed lunatics grabbing items and pushing and shoving one another... yes after awhile it is the stores' fault for putting up with the animalistic bullshit.

wal mart and the like need get a set of balls and start kickin peoples' frickin asses for acting like this. yet they don't do a frickin thing and they take in the money and scratch their own asses and pick their noses

Damn, check out the bottom (ish) of the screen at about 1:09. Woman gets all but mugged by some guy; all you can see are his arms and hands though, grabbing her arms and face and trying to get ahold of her items.

Side note wtf are they all fighting over? Looks like Rosetta Stone boxes for fuck's sake.

    I also disagree here.

Let's face it......people buy gifts for their children & others at Christmas. If Walmart, or any store, is offering a desired $100 item for $20, people are going to want it. Especially in the situation that many people are in with trying to stretch a dollar as best or as most that they can.

So it's not the "mindset" of the people......people are people.

However, it is the stores that are setting up these situations where 100 people want something that the store only has available for 25 people.....and the way to obtain them is to "snatch em' before the next guy".

THAT is the wrong part.....to set up such nasty situations.

Worst is that it's the same scene year after year. There's got to be a better way....such as you enter the store & pick a number......numbers ending in 5 get first dibs. ...etc etc

Because people do not act like "animals" in every situation......but do consistently in "this" situation.....I'm sorry, it's the situation's fault. And I'm not suggesting that the people are purely innocent...they're clearly not. but the stores not doing anything to prevent this behavior year after year are the main culprits

Exactly. They should just do line ups - first come first serve. That's it. Easy. Apparently Walmart hates line ups... except at the cash registers of course.

There really is no discount that could ever lure me to this mayhem... but just curious, are the savings really that great? To wait in line and fight people? Get a fucking tent? good grief. Has anybody here ever waited in front of Walmart on black friday to get themselves some loot?

I've heard that yes, there are some deals that really are that great. I've seen lots of people say they got really nice items for only a few bucks. Even in Canada, they had "Black Friday" sales where entire stores were 50% off (but here, malls were just busy and shit. Nothing crazy).

Ahh, I see. I've been seeing the cyber monday deals, and they're nothing special, so I didnt know how crazy it got or if that was comparable to black friday deals. its all just so odd to me, but oh well.
