Or at least 2nd best, behind Unthought Known.

There's not a song in their first 10 years of existence as cheesy, generic and boring as that hunk of crap

Release & Oceans are in my mind the best tracks off Ten.

I find I can't even listen to Ten anymore and haven't been able to for at least the last decade (ironically). When I hear the songs in my mind I can only hear the modern live versions, not the awkward album versions.
To quote the 10C from Newsletter #8: "Please understand we have a lot of members and it is very hard to please everybody. If you are one of those unhappy people...please call 1-900-IDN-TCAR."

Finally someone giving Porch the love it deserves! I'm terrible at this ranking business. For me, the songs in groups 6 and 7 are pretty interchangeable.

    1. Porch
    2. Release
    3. Alive
    4. Oceans
    5. Black
    6. Once/Jeremy/Why Go
    7. Even Flow/Garden/Deep

I don't know, I hear a song like Dissident and there is so much power behind it (musically and vocally). I know Unthought Known is a different style, but I just can't put Unthought Known in the category of great Pearl Jam songs when (I think) it can't compete with the average songs from the early era.

it is funny how most people have Even Flow 5th or lower, considering it is the most played live song the band has

    Alive
    Porch
    Jeremy
    Once
    Why Go
    Even Flow
    Garden
    Deep
    Release
    Oceans

This doesn't mean I don't like the ones lower on the list; just means I like the ones higher on the list more.

Once usually fails live, I only like the second half of jeremy. The rest are all almost perfect and i didnt realise really how good ten is til i had to rank them. Im rating this on live versions and what i would want to hear live not taking rarity factor into account.

Ten is so over played, Other than oceans and porch. I actually turn the radio to octane or lithium when even flow or Jeremy come on.

Even if Immortality sucks, which it doesn't, it doesn't begin to approach UK's overall boredom inducing ability.

Out of interest, how did you rank each track?

This is the correct ranking, ;)

I don't know - I feel no no need or desire to rank PJ's music at all, and even if I wanted to, I find it impossible.

  • Not going to try to rank them all, but EVEN FLOW is way higher than tenth.

And there's a good reason they almost always play it live: it's one of the best live songs ever.
