I do like the dude's cook-books, tend to use them quite a bit. The thing is, a 500 seat restaurant seems to go against everything he talks about in his show. The stuff on the show is quite good from what I've made... What he can cook, I have no idea.
also - if you watch the food network as much as i do (it's really like porn to me) ... you'll realize that he isn't that great of a cook ... his triple D show is a fraud ... pretty obvious - restaurants pay to be on that show as most of the things he highlights is just regular comfort food anyone at home can make ... nothing special at all ... and he has to fake his enjoyment of the food ... that's fraud right there ... so, if he opens a joint that is fraudulent - you already had a precedent ...
i'd rather live in Kanada
great review.
that's why my friends in NY all want to move here ...
Never heard if he ever did or not...but now I wouldn't want to eat there.

No idea how good of a cook he is, but he comes up with some pretty kickass recipes that I've done at home.
No doubt that triple D has alot of acting on it, but there's also some pretty creative chefs on there. Alot of it is mostly bar food, but there's quite a few restaurants that sound pretty awesome on there.
As far as him being a fraud, I'd guess you could classify every regular chef on that channel as one.
I fucking love him
I agree. Plus I also believe that those who can't write about it.
i don't see how that is the case ... sure, there are some great joints profiled on triple D but the reality is that most are not anything you wouldn't get at any local diner ...
i'm sure he is a decent cook and the restaurant being profiled is up his alley ... american comfort food ...
i'm not saying all the other chefs are great or whatever but that show is a big fraud to me and he hosts it so ... it's mostly guilty by association ... as much as i can't stand bourdain ... i don't see him going to an average at best joint and regurgitating phrases like "on point" and "killer this" or "killer that" ...
You must have missed the episode of No Reservations where he went to Alice Cooperstown in Phoenix. Perhaps one of the worst joints I 've ever eaten (twice)and because it was Alice Cooper and he named a sandwich after Bourdain I practically thought Bourdain was going to blow Alice during the interview.

3.5 star ... reviews are wide ranging ...
i think once you get like 200 reviews ... you can filter it out pretty good ... looking at the reviewer and how many reviews they've made ...
Anyway. I wonder if they'll have any reservations for my 15 year anniversary.
^^^ Yup, however that review did make my stomach rumble.
I like the chick who looks like a female Guy - SHE knows her food, big time.
Guy strikes me as a little...too...I dunno, much? Schtick-y.
But oh man, he's got one sweet-ass Camaro.
As for Bourdain? Love him through and through.
you talking about falkner who's on next iron chef or someone else?
this one?

oh her ... batalli's old right hand on iron chef! ... anne burell ... she definitely knows her stuff ...
