Nearly ended up only being 11 shows ;)

Jack Irons is the drummer on the Melbourne 95 boot, and if I remember correctly, Dave Grohl joins them onstage

To mix it up, as it was their first time? Maybe they thought the place was massive because of the whole 'Australia is massive' vibe looking at a map gives... (like charting new countries on a holiday... you have no idea how big it is until you get there :)).. in Sydney they did an Eastern Creek Concert... then a couple at the Entertainment Centre.

So maybe they thought they needed to spread themselves out around the major cities....

Yeah perhaps the drumming sounded different cos they toured only 3 mths after the release of Vitalogy............. I liked Jacks drummer on the later albums...
I did notice listening to the tape the drumming sounded different...

Yeah although the tennis centre and the music bowl are in sight of one another...
Ive only seen Metallica in the Ga area and RHCP in the seated area at the Music bowl......the RHCP seats were awesome but it lacked that closesness that u get in an arena atompshere....

Every time they've come they sounded different.. it's all about them getting better with touring... even Mike's guitar solo's and the way they play songs has grown :)

Don't destroy me for this, but I'm not a fan of Jack Irons' drumming work. He lacks IMO the aggression on the drums that compliment Eddie's vocals.
Dave and Matt both have/had the "X-Factor" that Jack missed
