hey guys, who's pumped for Nov. One of my good friends who now lives in london saw pearl jam in milan and verona recently, i thought id post up his small review of the shows for all to read, as it got me massively pumped for the Aus tour. enjoy
the rest of the afternoon was spent around the arena awaiting the arrival of pearl jam. the guys were rushed in by security cars for sound check so did not get a chance to see them, however for the sound check they played a for an hour and a half and we could watch from the outside, Eddie gave the crowd a wave and everyone was cheering as though it was the real show.

So after the sound check, we ended up going back to the room for a break and to get ready for the show.

Just as we were about to leave for the show the heavens opened up, and man did it come down hard. AS we had tickets and it was sitting we decide to go out for dinner, had some nice pasta and drank half bottle of red wine to salute Eddie!

So off to the show !

we had seats 7 rows back right in the middle, awesome view.

the show was amazing. it rained for the first half hour though but it did not really matter, it got the crowd even more revved up.

They opened with release, and man did eddies voice sounds crazy, almost brought tears, standing outside in an old arena in Italy, listening to pearl jam, honestly there could be no better venue.

The set list was amazing and I was jumping and singing the whole time. Eddie attempted to speak Italian to the crowd all night and they loved it. the saddest moment of the night was when Eddie talked about the death of Johnnie ramone. he said that "it was two years ago on the 15th september that johnnie died, and a couple of nights ago I spoke to his wife who said to say hello to all the Italian fans. and now I will sing this song for him" He then played comeback!

dude this broke so many people, couple were hugging everywhere, and you could see the pain in eddies face as he sang this song. it is one of the most saddest songs he has ever written, and to hear it in the arena , unbelievable. And when Mike broke out his awesome slow but powerful solo at the end i think everyone in the arena had tears in their eyes, you could hear eddie shaking and crying as he sang 'its ooookay, its ooookay'

They played there usual 2 and half hours, and ended with yellow leadbetter. the show was one of the best I have seen for many reasons, the venue, the feeling and emotion, and the crowd was so receptive, the Italian really "get" pearl jam and what they are about.

So the next day an early start to get the train to Milan. we arrive in Milan at 10.30 am and quickly check in. Then we head off to the city and as we get out of the metro stop at the duomo, there are about 30-40 Ferraris on display.

we then found our way to the nearest gelataria to sample some of milans gelato.

Milan was not as nice as other places in Italy I have been to date. too many immigrants it feels as though it has lost some of the culture.

we made our way to the san siro (ac Milan home ground) and oh my god, what a stadium!!!!!!!!##

to think, this is where van basten did his magic all those years! I was amazed.

I did buy some clothes from the store but unfortunatley did not have enough time to do a tour as we had to eat and get to the concert.

dinner is Milan was bad, the first bad meal I have had in Italy.

    so off to the concert.

this concert went mad, no crowd have I ever heard sing so loud, and I am not exaggerating.

every song was belted out aloud.to the point at the end of the song the crowd took over and the band stopped playing because everyone was singing so loud. ed just stood back and when the crowd finished the whole band just started clapping. they were blown away. the moment of the night was at the end of black when the crow brought tears to Eddie. they sang it so passionately and loud that he had tears. words can not describe the feeling that come over everyone.

Eddie again spoke in Italian to everyone all night, and some of the things he said were

"back in the us after a concert we stayed up to watch the world cup final, and congratulation on having the greatest team I the world, this next song is for that" they then played given to fly, so fitting considering all the controversy with the Italian team and everyone trying to take them down, but they rose above it all.

"of all the years and all the concerts, the crowd that sing best are Milan, thank you"

the Milan show was by far the most passionate from the crowd, I had heard rumours of how loud they are and it still blew me away.

the set list were amazing both night, and over the two nights I got to hear so many different songs.

during both shows I was jumping and dancing around thinking was Eddie, as were everyone else in there. I almost got a drumstick of matt cameron at the end of the Verona concert but this wanker who was 6 foot 6 next to me just got it. close but not close enough.

should have given a quick leg kick first and then it was mine!!!!!

so come Monday morning and back to work. without a voice and on the biggest downer for a long time. the only keeping faith is that they might be doing some more touring next year.

its now over to you boys to fly the torch. I am tempted to come home in November, so who is going to give me a ticket!!!!! Harry tell your sister to give up the Melbourne tickets and I will come with you!

so that's it, some photos and videos will come shortly.

what a weekend, I hear you say, you should have been there!!!!!!

keep on rocking in the free world!

Man, i've just spent the last half hour crying like a little bitch with a skinned knee. When bindi come out and spoke i just lost it.

I only saw about 5 mins in snippets because I'm at work....but I'm going to watch it 6pm on ABC tonight. I saw the bit where Wes (I think) was packing up Steve's ute and True Blue was being sung...THAT was sad. I had to walk out.

Yeah, i don't think i could watch it again, wes spoke and i gots choked up, the his old man spoke and i had tears. then bindi comes out and the whole crowd just went nuts and were standing and cheering for her, which made me lose it. and she spoke very well, following her notes with her finger,(http://d.yimg.com/news.aunz.yimg.com/xp/cosmos/20060920/11/856806876.jpg) it was very cute. and they showed terri as bindi was specking and she was a mess. it was so sad. but they also showed some very good footage of steve and then at the end a photo montage thing with family photos and stuff. It was very well put together, but yes very sad.

I'm glad Terri never got up to speak...obviously she wasn't up to it. It's good that she didn't feel obliged to. That would have been heartbreaking.

All the photos and clips on the big screen were so sad too. At least it's all over the for the family....funeral's over, today is over....no more things to plan for and wait for etc.

yeah, it would be hard enough to deal with losing a husband/farther/son ect as is, and it would just magnify that a million times with the worlds media going crazy and wanting to know everything, asking 1000 questions and all that shit. Hopefully now at least they can morn with a bit of privacy.

    Executive Decision
My mate who was gonna attend Newcastle with me (10c) is on again off again with an o/s trip at the same time so he has pulled the plug.

Ive come to the assumption that Im attending all the other Syd shows with about 15 different friends (reminder #6000 - collect $1400 sitting on your credit card) and this one seems like its gonna be a big 10c bash so the mates are ditched and its going elsewhere (any of my mates would probably think we're all freaks anyway being so passionate). Tommyphillips if you stil require a tik then check your PMs.

  • Evening people. Not many around these days I see. Probably working hard saving cash for November I spose. Hey, a question. I've always read about the fucked up sizing with the tees. If I'm your average 175cm, 75kg type, will I need a standard large or XL?

I don't know how big you liek them, but you wouldn't need an XL I wouldn't think. Some of the shirts are a bit smaller, like the fiddler one from memory. Which shirt are you getting? I guess not one of the ones with measurements?
