I'm gonna keep the piece. Glad you don't want it. Thanks. I have owned it for 8 years. I was curious of the real value without having to risk selling it. Can you guys tell me a way to do that? I mean someone on here said a few hundred dollars and I just did not believe it. So I did it the way I did it. Can you please tell me a better way to find out its value and not risk selling it. I just would want it authenticated even if I know it's real and I was handed the piece by Eddie. If you guys think I'm doing it for money I can understand why you think that but I'm not going to sell it so I am not doing it for that reason.

Get it appraised. There are memorabilia experts (start by checking with auction houses - see i' they can help you find someone). Find one and get them to appraise it. Not sure how much an appraisal costs, but you seem intent on this, and that's the only way you can get a realm value attached to it that anyone will care about (in using for insurance purposes).

Companies like PSA authenticate signatures, not sure if they do handwriting.

I've had a few things appraised. Not a piece of music memorabilia but similar in size and complexity. I paid $125 for each item. Jewlers charge upwards of $100 for appraisals. The more complicated the item, the more time they have to spend....the more they charge.

Just a blind guess....but I'd expect to pay at least $100 to get it appraised.

I paid for the listing just waiting till the auction is ended. Been in contact with PSA all week. In the process of doing all of that as well. I'm excited so should be sweet. Been getting a few rude emails on eBay about this as well.

"Those do not look authentic. I compared them to known writings of Eds and not close. Theres even a page of lyrics on Ebay and the writing is totally different. I also find it hard to believe Ed would give away lyrics that he actually wrote. A wine bottle maybe.. Lyrics.. No. And if you did get them from Ed i do not think he would be happy with you trying to make a buck off of something he gave you. FYI. Donna"

Well, to be fair, you kind of have said business right out there on display inviting attention, so you really can't get your back up about people commenting.

This thread always dissappoints me because I always think it's about the lyrics to the song - but I'm glad the OP got his initial answers. Quite a piece and one that seems priceless to me.
