The president hasn't obtusely shouted about all his accomplishments and landed on air craft carriers to grandstand and say "mission accomplished." And because of that, most people who don't pay attention think he doesn't do anything.
And when he DOES do some campaigning, he is accused of grandstanding.
Every candidate for the last 30 years has gone on talk shows and done interviews. Bill Clinton played the saxophone on Jay Leno. John McCain did letterman and Jon Stewart and yes... John McCain went on Ellen Degeneres and The View.
Why are we only hearing republicans whine about this now? Because Mitt Romney is scared to go on The View and Letterman because he knows he will be asked an off-script question and he'll say something that shows him to be an obnoxious plutocrat like he did yesterday when he said that "nobody dies in their apartment because they don't have health insurance." :fp:
So to divert attention from the horrible candidate they have, Republicans cry about the 15-minute interview that the president did and try to suggest he blew off a meeting with "world leaders." That's all they have.0 -

how can anyone honestly have a problem with this? there are WAY too many
there are 24 hours in a day...how many should we allow him to sleep? how long is too long to eat?
you can look at it another way Pandora, he is sacrificing when he does that, if some have their way, he will have sacrificed the office of the President because he didn't do a good job. Apparently we can point to being a dad as part of the reason he wasn't good at his job. That is ridiculous.
I applaud this attitude and wish more people would make that sacrifice.that’s right! Can’t we all just get together and focus on our real enemies: monogamous gays and stem cells… - Ned Flanders

I'll take it from Obama, when asked to describe his typical day, when he replied in the interviewer that he gets up around 6:00 a.m. sees the kids at breakfast before they go to school, works all day, has dinner with the family around 6:00ish to 9:00ish and then goes back down to the oval office until midnight or 1:00 a.m. I paraphrased and if I can find the interview, I'll post it.
I'd rather take his word for it than "some other source in the know." Also, shouldn't these folks who are so interested in building bridges and developing relationships and such make themselves available for the president? On his terms and when he's available? I mean, he is the "Leader of the Free World" right?
Willard Mitt Romney can't win with an honest discussion of the issues (stance on abortion anyone?) so he and his team resort to the portrayal of the president as aloof and disconnected because he has dinner with his family. Fatherhood is forever. The presidency is for 8 years.

Because it's not like they can talk about the positions of the candidates on particular issues.
Mitt Romney changes his positions in the span of hours. So instead, they make up phony stories like this.

I gave my opinion and I thought it weird for all those other events you mention as well. That is why we get one-liner presidents of soundbites instead of substance. Because we vote for the guy who played the sax on Leno or who we would feel more comfortable having a beer with.hippiemom = goodness0 -

He won't be going down as the hardest working President in history.
His job is 24 7 period.
It is a half hearted leader who only agrees to do things on his own terms,
no compromise. "Sorry I can not meet with these people on important issues

Home...in the White House...where the Oval Office is...where the White House Situation Room is...where his entire staff has their offices. This isn't like me saying I am leaving at 5pm to go home. The President never "goes home". This one really makes no sense to me.___________________________________________

I think in this context, Obama is an excellent role model (and does not render himself useless just because he's at home. Love how people act like he goes right off the grid during the dinner hour).

I haven't had time to read through this whole thread so can you direct me to a legitimate source reporting that? Because I find it incredibly hard to believe. Particularly the part that this happens every night.___________________________________________
