Just wondering if anyone whose seen disc 2 "The Kids Are Twenty " and Disc 3 "The Fans Are Alright" can give some feedback on these documentaries. I thought "Pearl Jam 20" was excellent but I haven't heard any reviews of the 2nd and 3rd discs . In your opinion were they as good as disc 1 "Pearl Jam 20" ? How long are these documentaries ? On disc 2 "The Kids Are Twenty" is the documentary full of complete songs performed live or is it clips of parts of songs performed live ?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated !

    Both are great :D

Kids R 20: complete clips of the live footage used in Pj20 for a little over 2 hours..

Kids R allright: Fan based stuff with some live footage combined with a story behind that..Just saw that once but a closer look what people feel and like about Pearl Jam...Eddie gives a good opinion about the forum and the 10c...Also a proffesor and big fan that combines his work with Pearl Jam and talkes about it..That part i realy liked and its a rare way at looking at the band at that point of vieuw :D
    Pearl Jam 4 live

Disc 2 has the complete songs of almost all of the performances from the movie. It also has some good extras on it.

Disc 3 has some good interviews and some really good performances not shown on either of the other 2 discs. The songs aren't complete but fairly long clips and also very good.

I really enjoy watching both of the extra discs. I definatly think they are worth having and recomend them.

These are just my opinions (obviously), I hope it helps a little.

Don't have time to post all my thoughts on this but I think the deluxe version is definitely worth picking up if you're considering it.

But if you're on the fence about springing for the Blu-Ray rather than the DVD, I'd say the Blu-Ray isn't worth the extra ten bucks just because the video quality isn't all that great for so much of the footage that was used.

The fact that the DVD is shown in 480p & the Blu-ray is shown in 1080i, I think it's worth the 10 extra dollars.

Would of been a treat for those who did buy the Blu-ray version received a digital download copy on DVD disc for their PC/Mac or portable devices.
  • Put it this way - I spent 65 bucks or whatever for the original. Plus I bought the regular one for 15 bucks so I wouldn't have to keep using the deluxe for Disc 1. Now the whole thing is half the price. It's a no-brainer.

The Deluxe version worth every penny, and now you got it cheaper you wouldn't believe what you have missed and that you finally got it almost half the price.

Disc 2: As everybody has said is the full footage of the performances on the movie, and it contains 3 extras; Delmar Porch, is about climbing during the song; Even Flow full performance but one of the cameras focused on the guy who jumps into the stage and grabs Ed, and the final tackle by the securty guards (I think it's in Manila); and finally Shadow, an interview with Mike about dated from the 90 about his band, how he decided quiting music plus a recent interview on the matter.

But that's not all, there is some footage that works as introductions to some songs, for example Alive at the beginning, there is something that wasn't on the movie, or Ed speaking before and anfter Bushleaguer in Nassau. One of the extras on disc 1 is about faithfull, by now you may know that Faithful and Given to fly were "created" on the same day under the same circumstances. On disc 2 you will see the part that Mike talks about composing GTF. And there are some footage in between such as Ed joking about getting mad with Stone, or Stone and Jeff being interviewed and asked to do something lame, worse than what they have done for MTV Latin America, or Stone and Mike joking about the Hidden Track. But most important is that you get to watch Walk with me full footage from Bridge School benefit and right afterwards Gonna see my friend which isn't available on disc 1. Then you get to watch Just breathe full SNL footage and right aferwards some backstage footage about telling the tech something about tuning some guitars and then Of the earth.

Disc 3: Last show of Ten tour, this is pretty cool, you get to see footage and hear a live version of Breath, but at the beginning I thought it was the whole show so I was a bit dissapointed for not getting a full show. Present Tense in Brazil and Black in Argentina performances are superb. There is an interview with Ed in which Cameron Crowe reads a letter from a fan to Ed, in which the fan writes something about Hard to imagine, and of course you get to watch and performance of the song. The statistical analisys IMO is pretty awesome, its quite entertaining, you get to watch performance of Yellow Ledbetter, RVM and another one I can't recall, maybe I'm wrong. But to me the most important feature are the interviews with the fans (TEN CLUB). The cherry is the Easter Egg: you have to go to the language menu, select OFF, and hit one of the arrows to the left. Doing that you will watch the performance of Hunger Strke only by Ed and Chris on Lollapalooza 92. Have you seen the easter eggs from disc 1?

You're right that the camcorder footage can't be enhanced too much but the current day interviews/performances are all in HD. But don't forget the audio quality is much better on the blu-ray version. I'd tell people to go for the blu just for audio alone. If you have a decent system it's night and day.

I rented Disc 2 on iTunes for $5 and enjoyed it. Wish I could also rent Disc 3.

Not sure which disc is which...The Kids Are 20 is a must for any PJ fan. Tons of great concert footage, from a great live band, plus a little insight about PJ. What more can we ask for.

The Fans Are Alright was a 1 time view for me and even then I found some of it kinda boring. The stats guy was the worst thing about the whole package. I'm sure there were some redeeming qualities but it was a total letdown compared to the other 2 discs.

I think that's kind of missing my point (probably because I didn't make it very clearly).

If the ten bucks is an issue for you, chances are that you don't have an audiophile setup.
