Just curious if anyone has been jipped of seeing a Pearl Jam show close to home because of an issue with venues. I'm 15 minutes away from the Nassau Coliseum, the site of the bu$hleaguer scene in Pearl Jam Twenty, and the band never returned since then (That was 2003).

I'm fortunate to have other big venues not too far away, but I wonder how picky the band gets with venues and different cities.

As a huge Islanders fan, that place is disgusting and the sound is terrible.

Don't think your move helped much. They haven't played the Rose Garden since 2000, but they did play up the road in Ridgefield in 2009.

  • yes. New Orleans. Jazz Fest performance was only one hour and thirty minutes. Haven't played an actual show since 2003?

Jones beach is another venue they don't like. To bad long island doesn't have a good venue for them to play.

Keep in mind that 2003 was also the last year they played a LOT of venues all over the country. Now, they'd just play two shows in NYC/NJ and a couple shows in Boston/Hartford and have that cover the area. Back then, they'd play multiple shows in the same state and not think twice.

...ahhh, the good ol' years of being able to see the band 5-6 times in driving distance of one's house. :)

do we know for fact they don't like it...or are you just guessing because they haven't been back since 00?

Anyway I'd love for them to play Citi Field, Arthur Ashe Stadium (I know it's tennis-only but that needs to change!)..... or the brand new Barclays Arena

Sounds SUCKS at Jones so I hope they hate it.

I'd love for them to play Citi or Ashe considering I live minutes away, but I'd love Barclays too :D.

    Augusta, Maine

Last time they visited was back in '96.
  • Bands will play anywhere, it's the roadies & production & local crew that have to deal with all the bullshit. With that being said I'm a stage hand and I know crews hate US bank Areana in Cincinnati Oh, it only has one loading dock. I hear there's a place in Rhode Island and Hershey PA that suck along with Red Rocks. Even though that place is gorgeous, it sucks loading in and out of there.

I'm sure every band member don't like a certain venue for one reason or another. IDK?
The band just walks out on stage!!

    My first PJ show!!!

    Yeah, and sorta related....

They played Palace of Auburn Hills in '98 and '00. When they came thru in '03, they played DTE Theatre (pine Knob in those days), 2 nights (!). The first nite tho, they had a run-in over season ticket holders & sponsor tix that took up a lot of the front rows. Surely nowadays if that happened, there would be many a 10C members freaking out online over it. Back then tho, it was the band freaking out over it, (listen to the bootleg, it's funny), and i'm fairly certain that's why a 2nd show was added, a show that had a crap load of rarity stuff for the time period.

When they came back in '06, they were back at the Palace. (which sucks, 'ause i hate the sound there).

    So i think this qualifies.

Gotta say tho, the first nite of that '03 2-niter was really better then the 2nd nite, even tho they played a lot of cool shit on nite 2. "Man" trilogy, lots of No Code, etc. But first nite still had great energy, almost despite the band's annoyance with the seating.

    cheers
  • I remember someone mentioning the Palace of Auburn hills..Maybe im wrong, Seems like all the good bands are playing JoeLouisArena...RHCP brought the house down, Mostly because hockey great Nicholas Lindstrom retired and recieved a heros welcome! Lead by local native Chad Smith

I'm pretty sure they don't enjoy anywhere up here. I was hoping Matt Cameron would spread the good word about Red Rocks from the Epic Soundgarden show there last summer!

If the sound system sucks, wouldn't you as a band not like the venue?? Yes its a guess, but a logical one considering in those 12 they've played a few local outdoor venues but Jones beach. Just like its a logical guess they won't ever play the coliseum cause of the Bushleaguer incident in 03. Granted its a dump, still would be nice to have a truly local show.

Citi field would be cool, they could easily sell it out. Arthur Ashe stadium would be cool, but those nosebleed seats have gotta suck.

I agree that the sound is kinda shitty, but I still think Jones Beach is cool because it's scenic. And as a fun fact I dig how it's the only venue from '00 that they played 3 times. So while the Collesum show gives LI a bad rap, hopefully the JB run gives some cred.

I am a huge Islanders can too...the coliseum is most certainly a dump but the sound is great in there. The low ceiling attributes to that.

I live in Charlotte now and they haven't been here since '03 as well. I'm hoping the DNC from this yr will help persuade them to come back.
    I will rock your face.

Oh my God, Dont get me started.

My first show was in Hartford, CT 1998 and Eddie wasnt happy with security playing the tough card. So He said some thing in a article that they would never play here again.

Dumb ass me took that in consideration when moving to the south  Funny I think they played there more than the south since then
