  • Dude, as a lifelong Nole fan, I must suggest you use Charlie Ward as #17 instead of an NC State guy who kicked out butt.

All good, can't wait to get to the ATL either.....

Damn good call! Forgot all about Ward being 17.

And for tomorrow, Can I just go ahead and assume you will use Heisman #2 Chris Weinke? PLEASE don't use Chris Rix (I'm still trying to delete that entire era from my brain). How they even let him wear Weinke's # is a mystery.

I will definitely use Chris Weinke. Chris Rix...well, he gets a bad rap sometimes. Those were the Jeff Bowden years and as we both know, he was horrible. Now saying that, I'm not sure if Rix would had done much better with a better coach, but who knows. I would had loved to have seen Mark Richt still there when Rix was QB - just to see what he could have done.

Anyone else staying at the Midtown Marriott Suites on14th Street. I'm coming in from Virginia and really looking forward to it. Probably my only chance of seeing the band live this year, unless they play Bridge School.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to
slide in sideways, BBQ sandwich in one hand, cold beer in the other,
body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "Woo Hoo what a
    ride"!

This is true.... also, look how many high star recruits washed out during this stretch. (X Lee, Calahan Bringht, Fred Rouse... on and on...). I turned down tix to the Clemson game to go to Midtown....and I have tix to the FSU/UF game but it's the same day as EV in Jax, so I will probably be getting rid of those too.

Lee was such a waste - all very true. I have a feeling the Clemson game will be at 8:00 - not sure what I'm going to do about that one. And as for Jax/UF game - that is one of the reasons why I haven't pulled the trigger on that one yet. I'm assuming it will be a 3:30 game, but who knows.

I'm glad a fellow Nole/PJ fan will be in attendance at Midtown

  • I'm a die hard Nole. I'm on Warchant 15 times a day...own NOTHING in the house with orange on it. I will however, stop on my way UP to Atlanta to urinate in Gainesville..... It's one big toilet anyway.

Yeah, I'm bummed about missing the Clemson and UF games, but seeing EV solo is such an amazing thing, there is just no excuse to miss it.

Are you going to have some pre show beverages and such in ATL?

I just saw Pearl Jam at the Made in America Festival in Philly and the energy was insane!!!!! Now I'm looking forward to rocking out to PJ with you guys at the Midtown Music Festival! :D

How are you getting there? I'm outside Philly and after experiencing MIA front row, I'm seriously looking at how to get to Atl!

    Hi there,
Trying to sell my two tickets to Midtown Music. Day 2 passes (obviously the day Pearl Jam plays). Looking for face value ($70/each) but open to negotiate. I have hard tickets and will have to mail them.

    Thanks!

Don't go to Flip Flops. It's owned by that dude, Ace, who was on MTV Real World several years ago. It's a bunch of drunk fratties and underage girls who can barely stand. Unless that's your cup of tea...

All the other ATLiens have mentioned the good places. Midtown and VA Highlands are the two entertainment districst that are close to Piedmont Park. They basically book-end the park on the east and west sides. Where to go (most have been mentioned, so I'm just reinforcing):

    Midtown:

    1. Vortex - best burgers in the world (one of the few restaurants in existence that still allow smoking inside--you've been warned), and huge beer selection
    2. Cypress Street Pint & Plate
    3. Engine No. 9 - in an old firehouse
    4. Publik House - next to the Fox Theatre...you've all heard of that place
    5. Proof & Provision - kind of a speak-easy
    6. The Nook - right next to Piedmont Park, so probably won't even be accessible or will be slammed
    7. Front Page News - cajun food, tons of beers...It's on Crescent Avenue, unfortunately, which is the "club" district of Midtown
    8. Tin Lizzy's Cantina - also on Crescent, but have a million different tacos and good drinks

    VA Highlands:

    1. Highland Tap - good basement dive bar...smokey but good food
    2. Dark Horse/10 High - the latter is in the basement and has live bands, and Friday nights they have metalsome karaoke....sing karaoke on stage with a live rock band
    3. There's really 8-10 bars in this area all next to each other
    4. Clermont Lounge - in the basement of the foreclosed Clermont Lodge on Ponce...yes, it's a strip club, but the women are all about 60 years old and fat...only canned beers--no drafts or bottles...it's totally shitty, and the dacers are absolutely disgusting, which is why it's fun...it's a novelty, but fun
    5. The Local

This is only my first or second post ever on here, for some reason. But at least I feel like I can offer something on an ATL thread. As far as a place for a pre-party, it depends on how many people would go. You'll want to be away from the park on Friday, since the Foo Fighters will be there and it will be crowded. Marlows Tavern is pretty big and could squeeze in quite a few people...

This is a great post. Chock full of great suggestions!

    Hey from ATL!

Thanks for all the suggestions. Once DeLuna single day passes went up, we called an audible to do the extra roadie on Friday and see PJ twice in two nights...bummed about missing FF for sure, but worth it to see PJ for 2 out of only 4 domestic shows in '12. We will definitely post-party on Saturday night, and will probably be hitting up one of the spots listed here instead of Flip Flops, many thanks to you guys! :)

Yeah, my buddy and I are staying at the Westin Peachtree Plaza. I think it's a really short Marta ride to the venue and we are planning 3 days of golfing at Stone Mountain and just hanging at local pubs etc. and drinking. I'm super pumped. I'm hoping the VIP tix we bought are worth it.

That's awesome. We're staying at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. Not sure how we're going to get to the show - probably just take a taxi
