Hey everyone, ive been thinking whether to make a topic about it or not, for some time now, so i decided that, yes, i do want to hear your opinions on this.... when I was a Eddie's solo gig at Manchester last month, I was obviously excited, and had been looking forward to that day for months, and was lucky enough to get great 10C tix, and be very close to our hero, so it all added up to my excitement, as you can imagine! :D half way through the gig, Eddie played Porch, and Lukin.... which made me want to get up and sing along with him ( both amazing tunes, and lets face it, NOT a sitting down and watching in silence type of tunes!!!) Not to mention, a lot of people on my left hand side were up and dancing! anyway, before I knew, this girl in front of me, who had been as quiet as a freaking mouse the whole gig through, turned around and said: " Can you be quiet?? I want to watch the gig!!!" That made me so mad, I could have punched her in the face!!! then I said: " Ive been looking forward to this for months, im gunna fucking sing!!!" anyway, what do people think of it? Should we sit quietly, just because you are in a seated gig, even though Eddie is playing rocky tunes??? Or we should just ignore those boring asses and enjoy ourselves the way we want to??

    Going to my first EV solo gig in Vegas in two months for both shows and I've thought about this a lot - as it will be my first EV shows. I have heard these shows are very intimate and not much singing, but all along I have thought how weird or awkward would that be? I plan on singing and getting into it, as I hope everyone else me will do. I would expect these to be more intimate shows like a Benny Hall or Vic - but still getting into it and singing, no?

    Anyway, I can't wait for my first EV gigs in VEGAS of all places and I plan on singing and getting into - regardless if those around me are not and frowning upon it. But of course, still being respectful.

    Sing it!

    There were lots of people singing along @ the EV Solo show I attended last year. (And not just to more 'rockin' songs either.)

    On the fence with this....I'm more in the "thieves of silence" camp myself. The solo show is more intimate and sedate....I almost consider it like going to a concert at church :) It's nice to sit and watch, reflecting on the music's message and the way it's delivered. So I'm more apt to say sit, relax, watch and enjoy. But, if you want to dance and sing I can't say that I blame you, just try not to distract from my experience for the sake of yours. Remember though that just because I sit quietly doesn't mean I don't love, appreciate and support the PJ/EV experience as much as you. Peace and enjoy.....got 3 EV shows coming p and can't wait!!!!!

    If you're singing loud on Sleepless Nights, like this guy was behind me at the second show in London... yeah, it's a problem, don't care what people might say... but during Porch, Small town, everybody (me included, obviously) was singing along with Eddie, no problem there.

    I think you have to balance your singing and understand the tempos of the gig, that's all. Eddie will even do it for you, haha.

    (btw, the guy's girlfriend behind me, at some point started recording a video... with the flash on... right behind me... but that's another topic. :mrgreen: )

    That person paid to hear Eddie sing, not you. Sorry, but singing loud at a show where there is one person on stage with one instrument is obnoxious and I cant stand it. I had two guys talking near me during one of EVs solo shows in NY last year and I asked them politely to talk lower. When they didnt, I wasnt too polite anymore :lol:. I understand that talking is different than singing along with the tunes, but they both have the potential to detract from other's enjoyment at a solo show.

    thanks for your opinion! I wasnt singing loud! Just singing, but the seats were far too close to each other, plus I can assure you, I wasnt the only one singing! Towards the end, people got up and danced too! I think you're being old and grumpy! :lol:

    Old and grumpy... :lol::lol:

    Yeah I would say that singing along is OK. I've never been to an Eddie solo show, but I don't think I would be able to be quiet all the time either... :D Still, as somebody said, people should be sensitive of the moment and be quiet when the atmosphere asks for it in order not to ruin it for everybody else (and consequently for themselves too, spending too much time arguing with people around).

    A (let's call it) similar situation happened to me at the Stockholm PJ show this year. We were standing in front of Stone and a girl run up and smashed among us and started jumping as if she were crazy, never seen anything like that before. :lol: When we told her to chill she said "but it is a fucking rock concert". Yeah, it is, but that doesn't mean you should hurt people. Everybody's jumping and enjoying, but I prefer not to go home with broken bones. :mrgreen:

    So I say enjoy the show and interact with the artist, but keep in mind that other people want to enjoy the moment too. :)

    I was winding you up, im sure you're lovely! :D I was only interacting with Eddie and enjoying myself, not being loud at all, in fact, I actually sat there for the first couple of songs, quiet in disbelief that Eddie was so close to me, then when he played The end and Guaranteed ( which is the song I tattooed on my rib cage) I sat there and cried quietly, it was magical....

    well said..... my problem with the times i've seen EV solo (twice in NYC, once near philly) is the a@@holes in the crowd screaming song names between songs and when Ed is talking or telling a story. After hearing the guy behind me screaming for a song like 15 times at the top of his lungs, right in my ear btw, i turned around and asked him nicely to shut the f$ck up. it really ruined part my night

    screaming while Eddie is telling a story is well out of order!!! I remember trying real hard to hear him, as he mumbles a bit sometimes, so I can assure u I was very quit while he was talking, I love the guy to bits, I would never talk over him!!! ever!

    yeah it was a struggle to understand him alot of times and having people screaming or even just talking next to you or behind you just makes it worse. Multiple times Ed made remarks about the people screaming when he's talking , but they were either too drunk or too stupid to understand.
