Saw them in 1980 :0 I know....way back then, only Keith was no longer there and it was amazing. I am going to see them in Montreal in November but I hope Pete can sing. He did not sing his section in Baba O'Riley at the Olympic closing ceremony...:(0

You will enjoy it when he sings Drowned in November."The stars are all connected to the brain."0 -
I have seen them twice. 2006 and 2007 for the endless wire tour. They were great. Yes, tickets can be pricey, but it is worth it. Also saw Roger on one of his solo tours a few years ago. Will be seeing the Quadrophenia tour in Feb as well.PJ: 10/14/00 06/09/03 10/4/09 11/15/13 11/16/13 10/08/14

yeah, we are going to Tulsa. One of our friends in thinking of going to other shows, as well, and I told him Tulsa was do able for me, otherwise, I was out. He got us 10th row on Pete Townsends side through American Epress Pre sale. These buddies I am going with are like with the who, how I am with PJ. That's cool you have decided on Tulsa. Seems like the who dates are pretty set in stone, don't really leave room for guessing, which I like. If they do an additional leg, they are at least up front about it, and it's planned well in advance. At leat I thought so for the 2006-2007 tour, which enabled us to go to OKC and see them once more in March 2007, after Dallas in Nov 2006.PJ: 10/14/00 06/09/03 10/4/09 11/15/13 11/16/13 10/08/14

some how I guessed that, by your username. and I think it's great! Keep on rocking in the free world to quote another great legend we love.(Mr. Neil Young
. )
I always would love to travel for pj or better yet, have them come back here, but it's too expensive, it's been east/ west coasts the last two albums. Don't have any pj friends or family ouside TX, well kind of, but Ed plays solo shows there. Seeing him 2x in November, here in Houston, so that works well for me.
Who shows have always impressed me, even now. Wish I could have seen John play, but they still put on a hell of a show! looking forward to this yet again. Always thought it was weird, how Peteand Rog, don't really get along, but yet Roger still took Simon Townsend out on solo tours, and he plays in the who now too. But I have always heard Pete and Roger are not real cool with each other at all, and fight alot.. am I wrong?PJ: 10/14/00 06/09/03 10/4/09 11/15/13 11/16/13 10/08/14

I'm fortunate (and old!) enough to have seen Keith and John. If the band isn't what it was in the 70s, they're still rockin and it's still a thrill for me to see them. They play their hearts out.
As far as Pete and Roger not getting along, whenever people talk about that I think of this picture:
I think it's in the Maximum R&B dvd that Roger says that the band functioned on competition. 4 very different personalities. The new Quad documentary had some insight on that too. Pete and Roger disagree on some of the things about the band (Pete says Keith was a "sloppy" drummer, Roger says Pete's wrong about that, etc.). I saw posts on some message boards to the effect of "It's a shame that Pete and Roger don't get along after all these years." I don't know if that's true but I know that they still work together and perform together. For the sake of their music, I think that's the bottom line. If they aren't BFFs outside of the band I don't think it matters. They publicly bickered in the past but they seemed to have moved beyond that years ago. I think now they do it jokingly.
I thought the Quad documentary showed them pleasantly disagreeing. I'd known for years about the famous fist fight during the Quad rehearsals, when Roger knocked Pete out. But it was revealing to hear both of them tell the story all these years later. These are 2 very different men with strong personalities who have had conflict but still have affection for each other. Long live rock!"The stars are all connected to the brain."0 -
Amazing Journey: The Story of The Who dvd, also talks bout the relationship between Pete and Roger and how it' had it's ups and downs
i saw the who at the rock honors a few years ago and i thought they were amazing and sounded really really great. granted it was only 13 songs, it still was one of the best concerts i've seen. it was many years worth the wait.Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight

A friend of mine and I saw The Who in (if I remember correctly) January, 1968 at The San Jose Civic Auditorium-- around the time when "Magic Bus" was released.
The opening band was Blue Cheer. Freaky! Awesome! Blue Cheer's set was a raging storm that quite literally made The Who seem tame. I thought they had gotten a girl to play drums. He was gorgeous and freaky in long flowing blonde hair. But as much as I was totally engrossed by Blue Cheer's set I had a spitting head ache during intermission.
The Who set was fantastic. They didn't play as loud in those days so the sound was strong but not overpowering. My head ache vanished quickly as each familiar song filled the air. The band was great that night! My buddy and I had second row seats just left of center- a little bit closer to Roger Entwistle. Roger was the epitome of cool and his fluid bass lines were incredible. Keith Moon was in top shape- a blur of arms accenting and punctuating every song perfectly - he just blew us away. Roger Daltrey's voice was in fine form and he had already perfected his moves including throwing the mike and catching exactly on beat- every time! And Pete Townshend was great. He seemed really focused- no bull shit. Played the songs with full attention, did the windmill, threw the guitar up in the air a few time, made his body and guitar into an "x" front and back and set off the smoke bombs to feedback. Perfect."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0 -

That show will always be special to me. It was the last concert I took my sister to before she passed away. When I think of her I think of that night and it makes me smile0 -

Thank you Who Princess. That would be great and would both verify my having been there and my ancientness.

OK, it took me a few days to get to it but HERE and NOW we have photographic evidence that Brianlux saw The Who way back in the day. These are scanned b/w prints so I know the quality isn't ideal but they are awesome just the same.
Pete looks like he's about to windmill here:
And this is the stance that Who fans call the Birdman:
And this is a very cool shot of John and Keith:
What I love about the last one is that Keith is playing his custom made Pictures of Lily drum kit.
You can see a lot of the detail on the drums, at least on the print that Brian sent me.
Thanks, Brian, I love these pics!"The stars are all connected to the brain."0 -

AWESOME, Who Princess!! Thanks for posting them!
It was a great show! Thank you Paul S. and David M., two of my high school buddies, for being there with me and turning me on to all kinds of great music.
So cool to see these on the internet!"It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0 -

Wow, Brian. Those are awesome. A little slice of history. Thanks.Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.0 -
Several times 8 in all the last was here in S Florida the last show in 2008 March for my birthday. Roger had a very bad cold laryngitis and had to cancel a couple shows. You could tell he had voice issues but he battled through them to give a wonderful farewell performance to Florida.
The best though was Wash DC on their 25th anniversary tour at RFK Stadium in front of 50k. They rocked the house as they were so loud but not distorted. The Stones toured that same year and blew them away by far as they also played RFK Stadium. I'd rather see The Who 10x's more than The Stones.

I know Blue Cheer did but I don't think The Who did. Interesting idea though! I wonder if that's where The Who got the idea to start covering that song?"It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0
