    I think you need to be a US Citizen to vote. It may vary by state. I have no idea how long it takes for that to happen. I think our immigration laws are all whacked and nobody can figure out how to fix them. Give credit to Bush who actually tried and was stymied by people in his own party. Other people I'm sure are much more knowledgeable on this topic than me.

    It's a joke here. Portland, very liberal, controls the entire state politically just because of the numbers. If you ever watched the show Portlandia, it is not that far off :o

    The rest of the state, with the exception of the college towns, is mostly conservative.

    This is correct. If you marry a US citizen you are eligible for citizenship after 3 years instead of 5. In my experience, INS takes a bit longer than this to process applications, so the actual time can be a bit longer.

    One thing about being D or R. I would be Independent, but in Pennsylvania you have to be D or R to vote in the respective primary. Independents are partially disenfranchised. I used to be R until I started paying attention to what was going on. :lol: And decided that the R's at the national level had more power to create evil than the corrupt D's at the local level.
