Anyone experience them live? Going to be in my town couple weeks before I travel to see Ed. Thought it would be appropriate to see them. Reviews say it is a fabulous performance----tix are a bit pricey. Any thoughts?

They are entertaining and definitely worth the price of admission if you have not seen them before. Plus, Quadrophenia is a masterpiece. But they are NOTHING compared to The Who of the 70's, when Moon and Entwistle were still alive and the band was in their prime. Those bootlegs are ridiculously good.severed hand thirteen2006: Gorge 7/23 2008: Hartford 6/27 Beacon 7/1 2009: Spectrum 10/30-31

saw them back in 2006 and they were really good. i agree that they obviously aren't the same as the 70's Who but to see all the classics with Daltrey and Townshend was well worth the price of admission.it's a fragile thing, this life we lead.

I saw them 5 or 6 years ago right after Entwhistle died. Wasn't sure how it would be, but it's up there as one of my top 5 concerts of all time - they were absolutely INCREDIBLE! Roger & Pete definitely gave it their all and really looked like they were having a great time doing it. I saw them a few years back, 2008 or 2009, at Hope Estate Winery in the Hunter Valley when they toured Australia. They had so much energy and put on a great show. I would definitely see them again given the chance. Support was Counting Crows which was an added bonus0

I highly recommend you go see them!
I first saw them in 1971 at the Spectrum!
What I remember most is that both Townshend and Moon destroyed their instruments at the end of the show, and that before the concert, while waiting in line, all of us were given copies of the "Won't Get Fooled Again" 45. (I still have mine! )
Then I saw them again in the late nineties when they were touring Quadrophenia-fantastic show!
Go and enjoy!!"A beacon on dry land"0 -
I saw them once. It was the last tour before John Entwhistle passed away. I think it was in 2000?
It was a the gorge. It was a great show. I'm really glad I went. They have so many good songs and Roger Daltrey does't seem to age. It makes for a good show.0 -
I saw them in '08 with my dad, it was extremely special to me. When I was born, my dad found it his duty to introduce me to The Who, his favorite band of all time. I took to the music immediately, and have fond memories of listening to and singing along to The Who with my dad in his car. In the '60s, my dad saw The Who twice, one of those times being at Woodstock. Fast forward 39 years to 2008....I saw The Who were playing 2 days after my 16th birthday and begged for him to get us tickets to see them together. Though it was pricey (he splurged on absolutely fantastic seats), we had one amazing time. You obviously can't expect Pete & Roger to sound like they did in the '70s, but for their age, they put on one HELL of a show. Pino Palladino and Zak Starkey are fabulous musicians, and of course while they're not Keith or John, played very well. I believe they'll be returning this tour.
That concert is the concert that made me want to go to as many live shows throughout my life as possible. I had only seen two concerts previous to The Who, which were distant memories after that Who show. It basically slapped me in the face, showed me the power of live music, and brought me so much joy! So after all that ranting, I think it's pretty clear I think you should go, as it will be worth it!"Sometimes you find yourself having to put all your faith in no faith."

Closest I ever got was in 1979 during a live broadcast at The Rialto Theater in Joliet, Illinois.
Kenney Jones from The Faces had recently replaced Keith Moon after he died from an overdose.Posimists. Fuck the pessimists...fuck'em.0 -
You're going to have a fucking blast. Even without Keith and John, the Who still brings down the house. Aside from PJ they are the band I've seen the most number of times (6 plus Pete solo, also tremendous by the way).
For me, Townshend IS rock n roll.
Enjoy!!0 -

Saw them that year too in Sydney with 2 long time friends and fans. We weren't expecting much, but were pleasantly surprised at the great gig...oh ye of little faith! Rollicking versions of 'Baba', 'Won't Get Fooled Again' 'Who Are You' and numerous other hits. Would see them again at the drop of a hat!0 -

You'ree never sure with 'oldies', if they're going to be any good or an embarrassment to themselves but yeah The Who were great.
