Johan, Carlos Zambrano, Kelvim Escobar, and Wilson Alvarez. I remembered at the top of my head Johan and Wilson. Had to check baseball reference for the others. And King Felix is 5 wins from 100.

That is correct. I looked it up but before doing so, I would have guessed all but Escobar.

Why is Granderson batting lead off?

I can't quite figure this one out either. :?

    right, that's another one, WTF?

    Suzuki
    Jeter
    Granderson
    Cano
    Tex
    A-Rod
    Swish
    Iban
    Stewart

Kind of hard to bat a guy who has a .288 on-base percentage leadoff don't you think and in a lineup filled with power, Granderson seems to be a decent option. He has done it 556 times in his career with some reasonable success, so it's not a bad move given the circumstances, though I have no issue with him second and Jeter leading off.

Who has the .288 on-base percentage? Ichiro?

Baltimore ain't catching shit. Tampa would be the only team I am slightly concerned about because of their pitching.

I don't like Granderson batting leadoff but Girardi said he has a higher OBP than Jeter against righties, which makes some sense. I just think you have to have Granderson in a spot where you get multiple runs if he hits one out.

No real shame in losing to Verlander, I actually thought they put together some decent at bats. Nova as horrific though. I don't know what I would do about that. Keep the fucking ball down.

Yep. And since he's a free-swinger, do you really want him batting leadoff? The point is that late in the games, if it's close it forces managers to mix-and-match since Granderson and Cano are not hitting consecutively. It might not be such a big deal if both players say had .270 averages against lefties, but they don't. Cano is hitting .245 off lefties, .358 off righties while Granderson is hitting .231 against lefties.

This will come more into play since Toronto, Texas, Boston, Chicago presently have multiple left-handed relievers on their current rosters. Detroit's only left-handed reliever is Phil Coke.

Instead of coming up with original thoughts and typing them, I'll just be a hack today. This mostly sums it up for me.

Yep, and I wish Kelleher would have sent Ichiro last night. Make them make a play. Their defense is pretty horrible in general. In a game like that, don't wait for another hit.

I hear you. I only saw the replay once or so, so I don't know. Like you said, just like putting pressure on them.

    Ichiro knocking someone over

At least we have our two best pitchers going the next couple days. A split is much needed. Going to be tough.

On another note, how filthy is Caberea? Love watching him hit, expect when they are playing the Yanks

I always liked him and thought they shouldve never let him go...but who would've guessed .353?!

    Weaver?
    Now Burnett? 14-3?! :fp:

Wrong Weaver and this is hardly breaking news that some people perform better after leaving the Yankees.
