Second Favorite Band after PJ...

Fourth post ever...just was inspired by some unbelievable music.
After 100+ PJ shows, I have yearned for that feeling for another band that "this band is my band". After years of trying with unfulfilling bands and shows, I can honeslty say I have found my non-PJ fix. The Gaslight Anthem is simply fantastic. Raw energy, raw lyrics and a live show that replicates PJ of the early 90's. I only post this because I think my fellow Jammers would appreciate this music and grow along with this fantastic band.
Give this band a chance...browse on iTunes, download live shows...these guys are the real deal. Brings me back to the feeling in 1992.

The passion and emotion in the songs is great and really hits you after a few listens. Somethign sorely lacking in current pop music, maybe even mainstream music in general. This band is a major breath of fresh air.
Just bought the new album so can't review it yet, but I do love the new single, 45. Also, their show in a small club in Seattle at the start of July is one I'll remember for a long time. That says something since I have seen a ton of concerts. .
BTW I thought that the post was to talk about our second favourite group after PJ
Waiting for the next PJ euro Tour
Hoping not to get drown in the wave of life

And it rocks! Definitely a great album.

it was hard for me to really get into at first. i liked it, but it didn't blow me away. i was expecting more guitars after In Rainbows, I think. but after i saw their performance of the entire album on the From the Basement series, I had a whole new appreciation for it.

I read a review of Handwritten the other day on Grantland and it's hard to disagree with the point that The Gaslight Anthem is becoming too much of Springsteen facsimile. I love them, but I wish they had gone a little more punk on this album instead of channeling the Boss again. I'm not a Bruce hater either - he's my second favorite artist after PJ and Bruce is a mythic figure where I live. They need to develop their own identity and I think this new album, while good, is a step back in that regard.
